## Community Q&A

**Q: Powder room in progress but need help with wallpaper.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is a powder room from a lake house I have been remodeling. I haven’t finished the bead board so please go easy. I have put the ceramic floor in and put up wood plank wall. I kept the sink, love it, but opted for a new toilet. The walls are in pretty bad shape and I thought I would paper above the bead board. Please help. I’m stumped about pattern, color......

A: Thank you for keeping that fabulous sink! The floor is the perfect choice!
Don’t have wallpaper suggestions at the moment, just needed to praise you for honoring that sink.

**Q: Help with front door replacement** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are going to re-do our front entrance. The picture with the planters is our current door, the glass to the left of the door has been shattered and the entire thing is in need of updating. The picture of the wooden door is something I like but I am really unsure if it would go - with the trim etc. We plan on replacing everything on the jutted our part - so the front door, sidelights and each window next to the sidelights and all trim in between. We would love it to be as maintenance free as possible and durable as we live in a cold climate and this faces to the west. I know we don’t want to have a storm door however.

A: Replace the single door with side lights to a double door. It would make a grander entrance, and look cleaner. You already have the windows on the sides, the side lights on the door feel too busy and your door looks small compared to the entry.

**Q: Interior brick floors** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We just bought a house and the kitchen, laundry room and half bath all have brick tile flooring. The seal on the brick tile is starting to flake and is turning yellow. (Not to mention the previous owners had cats and it reeks of cat urine)
What is the best way to go about stripping the sealer to the natural brick then resealing it?
We were also thinking of painting the brick or white washing it. Any thoughts?

A: Excellent job refinishing and working with what you have!

**Q: Powder Room Color with Brown Tile** *(in Paint)*

Hi! Anyone have any suggestions on wall color of a powder room with this brown tile? It's currently a yellow-ish tan color that I'm not happy with. We will eventually take out the floors (I don't love it but we're probably 2 years out from taking it out) but would love to get something on the walls for now that at least compliments it in some way.

A: Some inspiration photos of brown and turquoise rooms.

**Q: Kitchen cabinet refresh** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Thank you to all for viewing and suggestions ahead of time. I am considering painting or staining my kitchen cabinets a newer color. Eventually would love to redo my counter tops but at this time I’m holding off in doing so. I was considering white which I love and have been leaning towards doing but have a feeling the white trend may be coming to an end.
I am attaching a view of my living room that looks away from the kitchen to get an idea of my living area that connects in my condo. Thank you y’all!

A: I don't think of white cabinets as a trend, they are always in! Painting them white seems like the quickest least expensive way to perk up your current kitchen and have it flow with you living room.

You also could do dark lowers and white uppers, or remove some of the uppers for open shelving, if you are looking for other options.

**Q: Kitchen Facelift Ideas** *(in Appliances)*

Hi
Looking for some ideas to update kitchen Want to change the floor and possibly paint cabinets, perhaps dark blue for bottom? Also would like to change appliances. would like to put in range hood as well. Not sure if should stick white appliances or stainless.
Any my suggestions much appreciated!

A: here's some inspiration for lighting and dinning -
