## Community Q&A

**Q: To caulk wood ceiling before painting or not?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all we have beautiful, high, wooden ceilings but they make our house feel dark and we've finally decided to paint them.

My dilemma is ... Should we be caulking between the bits of wood? Not to close the gaps, we still want to see the definition but to help fill the space for a better paint finish.

Anyone have any advice on this? Is it needed?

Many thanks,
Kate

A: Oh, and use a good oil based primer before painting, in an effort to minimize the wood's movement.
