> Deb is amazing. You will not find another painter as skillful or professional as her. She is detailed and a perfectionist. That is what you want in a painter! Also, she super nice to deal with. WallNuts has my highest recommendation and is the only painting company I recommend to my customers. I have personally seen her work in my customer's homes for the past 11 years.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Trim paint in a new build.** *(in Paint)*

Anyone have any recommendations on interior trim paint. Our builder uses sherwin williams. I'm thinking pure white. Can anyone help? I've also posted in the painting forum. Kim

A: Pure white is SW 7005. When picking the trim colour, take into consideration your walls, flooring, and ceiling colour. Ask yourself if you want a stark difference or sutle? Also, ask your painter to do some samples for you. I will do colour boards and even spray samples for new builds.
Here is the colour page for Pure White SW 7005 that has a coordinating and simular colour selector on the bottom left.
Note: Never pick your colours off the Internet ! Electronic devices and computers are RGB and will not be calibrated to match real paint samples that are CMYK. What may appear to be grey could be blue on your walls.SW 7005 Pure White

**Q: barn door stain/finish** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi Catherine, everything looks so gorgeous! Beautiful job. What is the stain/finish on this barn door? Thank you!

A: Looks like a satin lacquer about 35%. You can see the reflection off the sheen in the top two corners by the hardware.

**Q: Wall Colors - please share** *(in Photo Questions)*

Beautiful work! Please share the paint colors you used.

A: gorgeous colours and that door!!! OMG I love it.

**Q: Durability vs. Touch-up-ability: Aura vs. Regal Select: Matte** *(in Paint)*

I am leaning towards matte for my living room accent wall project because:
(1) builder used Flat (contractor BM) on other walls that I have no desire to paint whole area, and
(2) I am liking the fact that nail holes can be patched and touched up nicely (my decor is a lot of trial and error and things move a lot!). Is that just as true with Matte as true with Flat?
(3) I just used the Aura Matte Bath&Spa in 2 baths and liked the look of the matte, even tho I've always used eggshell. Although I do get a little blotchiness here and there with Aura, not sure why. I always have. Not enough mixing?
But, I am noticing that the existing builder's Flat shows black scuff marks very easily. Even the Aura matte got a little scratched while putting a picture back up.
So I am wondering if Regal Select Matte will be even less durable than Aura. Mostly it seems that Regal is becoming more like Aura. What is the distinction now?
Will I get more durability with Aura? Not sure its worth the premium cost for one wall.
Is the good touchup-ability coming from the Matte or the Aura?
This is getting like buying light bulbs... too many variables!!! :-)

A: I realize this is a old thread but I use Aura or Regal Select for all my interior projects.
Although they are both high end paint plus primer paints and they are both Green Promise Zero Voc, there are two main difference between Regal Select and Aura. First, Aura is self leveling where Regal Select is not. Because Aura self levels, it sets up fast which does not allow for it to be back rolled. If rolled correctly Aura will give a much smoother finish because of this feature, however if it has been back rolled or over worked, then you will get patchy spots. The second difference is that Aura was designed to use with any Benjamin Moore full spectrum Colour Stories Palette colours. These colours do not have any black or gray tints which causes the colours to change from room to room and in different light, hence the full spectrum. CSP colours can only be mixed with Aura paint.
Aura is my favourite interior paint, but it's not for everyone because it sets up very fast. Adding Floetrol can extend the open time but you still need to get the feel of Aura to get a flawless finish. Aura can be tinted to any Benjamin Moore colour but it does tend to colour shift more than Regal Select.
Depending on what the clients colour choice and home style is will determine what I recommend. Aura is best for CSP colours, sun walls and bright stairwells for a smooth finish and it has slightly better coverage than Regal Select.
Both are highly cleanable when cured.
