### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Larry Richardson, March 2023**

> We experienced a great collaboration with Tim Wade (Verdant Architecture) in 2021-2022 as we embarked on the design of our new house – to be located on a lot in a quiet neighborhood that we had previously purchased and demolished the existing small ranch to accommodate our new construction. Tim was creative and interactive with us and our builder, Gregg Biche (Quality PM), who had recommended Tim to us. The design process from concept drawings through the preparation of detailed construction drawings reflected our desires and objectives, and Tim brought the sensitivities of blending the front elevation of the house into the existing neighborhood while taking full advantage of the site topography. This allowed us to include a walk-out lower level, a dramatic rear elevation, and an attractive swimming pool location and elevation in the design. Tim’s attention to the importance of natural light - maximizing daylight entering virtually every room in the house – gives us delightful spaces even on cloudy days. And his recommendations on building materials, particularly the exterior, resulted in distinctive aesthetics along with durability. We extend our highest recommendation for Tim and his fine work!

**Comment from Verdant Architecture:**

> Larry and Karen,
>
> Thank you for the kind review. It was a pleasure working with you both in the design of your home and I am so happy that you are pleased with the results! I am happy to have had the opportunity to assist you.

**★★★★★ — Barbara, Oct. 2020**

> Tim Wade, owner of Verdant Architecture, was a pleasure to work with. He is responsive, polite, respectful, and professional. We appreciated his creativity so much, as we were having trouble with all the decisions to be made. Tim guided us with the building codes and aesthetics. He was able to incorporate our "must haves" into the overall design. He was also able to make minor changes along the way, without major changes to the schedule or price of the project. He worked so well with our builder, Franklin Laskey, of Capital Construction. It was convenient to be able to have these two coordinate on the project. Tim also coordinated with the engineer, and the bank with all their requirements. Of course, we were kept apprised all along the way. He placed the house on the optimal spot on the lot, considering which rooms would require more privacy, and have the sunrise or sunset. He also ensured the drainage was appropriate for our house, as erosion was an issue. Tim considered the furniture and special objects we would be bringing into the house, and asked for pictures and dimensions. The house is unique; definitely not cookie-cutter. This is the third house we have had built, but the only one with which we have worked with the architect. We are enjoying our new home, and have gotten compliments from all who have entered our home. We highly recommend Tim!

**★★★★★ — Linda Ferguson, June 2020**

> Tim was very helpful in getting our variance in Saratoga Springs so we can eventually build our retirement home.
> All in all Tim was a pleasure to work with. He got back to us in a timely manner and had some great ideas in designing our house. Unfortunately with Covid 19 we had to put our plans on hold for a bit.

**★★★★★ — Faith Parker, April 2019**

> We met with Tim Wade several times as we began planning to build our new home. We had never built a house before. Tim helped us to better understand the process, the role of the architect, and how to evaluate and clearly establish our own priorities. We also loved talking with him. He is pleasant, intelligent, thoughtful and honest. We were keen to work with him. Unfortunately our builder was extremely resistant, and in an effort to not offend him we did not avail ourselves of Tim’s expertise. That was a mistake. Our builder made many errors that cost us both time and money. Some of them cannot be remedied. In retrospect, we think it very likely that Tim’s involvement in the project would have saved us more money than it would have cost. And the frustration, anxiety and headaches we might have avoided? Priceless!

**Comment from Verdant Architecture:**

> Faith and John,

> Tim was a pleasure to work with! He is very approachable and was available and returned calls and messages promptly. He brought insightful creativity to our project and delivered a great design that met our objectives. He was also great in connecting us with professionals that could complete the design. He was sensitive to our budget and maintained excellent communication at every step in the process. If you are at a crossroads and need a creative mediator, Tim is your guy. We have not worked with an architect in the past and were very happy with the process. It was definitely worth every penny.

**★★★★★ — Nelson Reeds, April 2017**

> I've worked with Tim to provide architectural lighting design on residential projects in the upstate region of New York. He is a skilled architect and fun to collaborate with. His thoughtful approach to his work and consideration of my lighting details early on in the design have resulted in successful projects and integration of the two. Working with Tim has been a rewarding experience.

**Comment from Verdant Architecture:**

> Nelson,
>
> Lighting is always a challenge in the architectural world - it can truly make or break a completed building. I really appreciate your focus on the architectural details and the quality of service and creativity you present. Lighting is the key and you certainly know how to unlock its potential.
>
> Looking forward to our next project,

**★★★★★ — Legacy Timber Frames Inc, April 2017**

> We have worked with Tim on several timber frame projects over the years. He is wonderful to work with and we really enjoy working with him. He is one of the rare architects who will work with you to come up with the best ways to achieve a design, element or detail. He has a true understanding that just because you can draw it does not mean it can be built easily or affordably, and he works with the trades to come up with the best and most cost effective way to achieve his design vision for the client.
>
> I am also very involved with the local building association, and have gotten to know Tim well through his participation with the Green Building Science Group and the Code Committee which he is also very active in. His knowledge in these areas is very impressive, and his drive to learn more is truly inspiring. He is always looking to get new information on new techniques and products that he can bring to his clients to best serve their needs.

**Comment from Verdant Architecture:**

> Annemarie,
>
> Many thanks for the kind words. It is rare to find somebody with your skill, knowledge and craft. It always amazes me when I see one of your precisely assembled and hand crafted timber frames erected. You make it look easy! I can't wait for our next adventure.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the patio floor. Would you please tell me what type/brand it is?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I live in AZ and wonder if I can purchase this type of tile? or stone? here. Thank you

A: I believe that is a Vermont Quarry Run slate flagging with mixed green, gray, purple stones. I imagine you can find slate locally in AZ, but it will most likely be in the sandy blond to red desert color range. I'm sure a local stone supplier can hook you up with some quality, locally sourced flagging.

Best of luck,

Timothy

**Q: What is the shake stain color? Would like to use it on a project** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Oh boy, that project was completed ten years ago. My best guess would be Sikkens Solid Matte Rubbol Solid Wood Finish in Oxford Brown.

**Q: What supports the seat cushions?** *(in Product Questions)*

Are the seat cushions supported by plywood, springs, something else?

A: I think the question was referring to the FRAME construction BENEATH the cushions, not the cushions themselves. surely there must be something supporting the cushions. What is the frame construction beneath the cushions, slats, plywood?

Thanks!
