**★★★★★ — Lynn Gallati, June 2017**

> We have worked with Michael and his employees for several years now. Our initial project was a home remodel and addition (including a garage tear-down and re-build with guest house second story). Everything was done on time and with the highest quality. The sub contractors were always very professional. Care to our home, property and neighbor's property was always a priority. We have subsequently used Alpenglow for a barn and game room combo as well as another bath remodel. Within the next couple of years, we anticipate another remodel and we will definitely use Alpenglow again!

**★★★★★ — Chuck Stevens, June 2017**

> Michael and his Alpenglow team expertly handled our recent remodel project (we did a complete redesign and renovation of an A-Frame cabin approx. 700 sq. ft.) The team was extremely professional, attentive and knowledgeable. Michael assisted us in completing the design phase and patiently walked us through the process, ensuring that we completely understood what was happening at each step along the way. Michael performed all coordination between the different craftsmen and sub-contractors and held them accountable to perform professional work. He diligently represented our interests and ensured that the finished product exceeded our expectations.
> Michael and his team were always available. He maintained open lines of communication and our e-mails and phone calls were responded to in a timely manner.
> The Alpenglow team was full service: from creating the design to following through to make sure that the finished product was exactly as planned; Michael and his team provided creative recommendations and were ever conscious of our budget concerns.
> The finished product was everything and more than we were hoping for. We enthusiastically recommend Michael and Alpenglow for any construction or remodel project.

> Alpenglow Building & Design Inc. built out our restaurant, Grassburger, from the early design stage to final completion. Michael, Ben and their crew were fantastic to work with! Honest, creative, hard-working, on-time, motivated, team-oriented and very talented!! We were totally pleased with the final product! We get many, many compliments on our build-out and have Alpenglow to thank!! You can go to our website www.eatgb.com to see more interior shots.

> Michael & Ben have been a pleasure to work with on two projects, both different in scope. The first, a garage with an office above, and second, a 2,200 square foot restaurant remodel. From design to finishing the job, they were steady, consistent, timely, and hard working. Attention to detail and an eye for design. They are both good communicators and work well together. I would not hesitate to work with them again.

> Michael and his crew did a terrific job on our new kitchen. He could have done the design as well as the construction, but we had hired a designer before we found Alpenglow. He figured out how to work with her, even though she turned out to be a little difficult. He respected our budget, came in on budget and on schedule, and kept us up to date on the budget as the work progressed. He came up with creative ideas for solving design challenges, and was amenable to changes we requested. His project manager Ben was a true pleasure to work with--creative, personable, attentive to detail, and neat. We ended up with beautiful cherry cabinetry and quartz countertops, as stunning glass tile backsplash, high-end stainless appliances, and a much-improved layout. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because there were a few errors in the estimates and totals as we were developing and revising the budget. This is the only area where Alpenglow could have done a better job.

**★★★★★ — John and Julie Hartley, April 2013**

> My husband and I worked with Michael of Alpenglow to look at the design for re-siding our home and adding on a garage/workshop. I am so grateful for the work Michael did as his drawings brought so much more clarity, speed and collaboration to our project. He is genuinely interested in our project and conveys a sense of excitement and understanding of the goals for the job that helps instill a great sense of confidence and approachability for us, the client. I highly recommend working with Michael for any building and design needs!

- [Passive Ranch](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/passive-ranch-pj-vj~2338255)
  - Location: Durango, CO
  - Photos: 27
  - Description: Our 4th Passive House project in the area was dictated by a beautiful riverside site, colorful cliffs and big views. Lots of glass, a well thought out palette of materials and quality design made this project a success. This house being air tight, having a lack of thermal bridging, air filtration and triple pane windows uses 80% less energy than a standard built house this size and is more comfortable and healthy to live in. Lots of custom details here.
- [Meadow Project 2005](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/meadow-project-2005-pj-vj~193894)
  - Location: Durango, CO
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: This fantastic site, with views ranging from steep mountain peaks to limestone cliffs to grassy meadows demanded a structure drawn from outside the box. The client's love of mining structures common to this area of the rocky mountains as well as site based elements such as passive solar gain and protection from the wind dictated a design based on a small, tightly developed floor plan where no space was wasted. We used reclaimed materials for the siding, trim, flooring and cabinetry. The rusty st…
- [Moraine House Addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/moraine-house-addition-pj-vj~446166)
  - Location: Durango, CO
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: A fun and challenging space with attention to detail and views, this addition called for enclosing an existing patio to gain a new room inside the existing home. Lots of angles, ceiling heights and views lead the program. The success of this project was due to the rich and warm materials like the walnut floor and cherry crown and trim as well as the modern fireplace and built in cabinet. Each window or glass door frames a unique view over Durango Colorado.
- [Animas Valley Passive House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/animas-valley-passive-house-pj-vj~1690309)
  - Location: Durango, CO
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: The first true design-build of a european passive house in the Animas Valley of southwestern Colorado, this project opened our eyes to the future of how efficient high-performance buildings can be. This amazing structure uses 70-90% less energy, has a hygienic indoor air quality and will be cooled in the summer with water from the Animas river.

  - Description: Our firm was fortunate enough to design and build this original structure. Then 6 yrs later the property changed hands and we were again summoned to design an addition to the main structure and completely redesign the existing one car garage to a carriage house over a two car garage. Precedent was made to keep the original character of the site and structure as untouched as possible, but accommodate the new client's needs. We used the same roof lines and materials along with protecting the fanta…

  - Description: This home was designed for a historic neighborhood infill project situated on a very steep east facing lot. The surrounding homes had run the gamut in style from a historical cabin next door to a Victorian across the street. We opted to bring a splash of color and a new palate of materials to the site. The result is a bright., clean and attractive residence adding interest and character to a rapidly changing neighborhood.
