While the landscape architect has the technical precision of an engineer, he is at heart, an artist. This unique design approach, informed by the client and the architecture, transforms ordinary properties into extraordinary gardens.

The house is the central component of a garden. Visualizing it from the inside out is the secret to achieving great results. This “doors-out” approach begins with integrating the hardscape, often including a pool as its centerpiece, with the plantings at the onset rather than as an after-thought.

Appropriate use of local plants is the foundation of any ecosystem. In turn butterflies and birds become part of the scenery. And what more beautiful art could you display on your walls than the wondrous flora and fauna outside your windows?

Nature does happen when you give it some room.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Brazilian fern tree** *(in Photo Questions)*

Brazilian fern tree

A: The plant on the right is actually a Dioon Spinulosum. Not a fern. The groundcover beneath it is Boston Fern.

**Q: is this somewhere tropical?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this somewhere tropical?

A: Technically it's subtropical. Key West! Craig

**Q: stepping stones - natural or man made** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the look of the stepping stones. If man made .. is there a technique to it? Thanks Craig. Your work is genius.

A: That is single pour concrete with rock salt finish. Then it was stained. www.mineral-life.com supplies the stains that go on after it cures. It then ages in the sun to look like stone. Thank you for your kind words about our work. Glad you like it!!

**Q: White Flowers** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, what are the plants in the far background with the white flowers? Thanks

A: Those are on a plant called Cat's Whiskers. Orthosiphon aristatus

**Q: What deck material is used here? If it's coral stone, which kind?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the color of the hardscape and texture, from what I can see.

A: The material is a Limestone called Ocean Reef White. It has a brushed finish. Very nice material.

**Q: net yard sq/footage?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the approximate sq footage of the lots that end up landscaped as tropical jungles? I would love to accomplish that and I have about 7,800 sq feet. Is this enough space?

A: The lot in the photos is 8000 s.f. So yes you can create a tropical jungle on yours!
