Hank and his design staff first looked at the project of total kitchen demolition / renovation and heard not only my wishes & objectives, but also my BUDGET and my DUE DATE (big wedding party due to be held here in a few months). We are empty-nesters who have dramatically downsized, leaving 4500 sq. ft. for 2,400. This was a very 'dated' 1986 condo, but on a beautiful little lake adjacent to the TN River. The kitchen was our last update project! End Result: Hank opened up the kitchen so that the lake became a focal point, not the 'smallness' of the kitchen area. My desire was a black, contemporary kitchen with an island ... and a lot of storage (no nook or cranny unused!). Sounded impossible for this small space ... but Hank made it happen, and it is contemporary, dramatic, compact and beautiful! There is even a down-lit, glass floating bridge for artwork ... what a showstopper! My greatest praises for Hank and his staff are that they did not show me products or designs not in my budget, they gave me realistic choices, they hired a great general contractor, and they finished on time! The design provided by Haskell Interiors included doing away with a doorway which gave a more uniform design and usable space, moving the entry of the pantry to make it more accessible, expanding the island which allowed for kitchen stools, adding a window seat which almost doubled our seating at our table and minimizing a doorway from the eating area to the kitchen which made room for more storage and serving surface. I had ideas of what I wanted but needed the guidance of a professional.
