## About

### Houzz Badges

- 25 Ideabook Saves

Since the company’s inception in 1984 Charleston Forge has been known for its award-winning designs and impeccable quality. Sturdy, hand-built steel frames, solid wood tops and shelves, a wide range of exquisite glass options, and high-quality upholstery, all come together to create beautiful furniture that literally lasts for generations.

Drawing on age-old blacksmithing and metalworking techniques, each piece of furniture is built to order, by hand, in the company’s Boone, North Carolina factory. There is no automation, no assembly line, just individual, painstaking attention to detail from start to finish by talented craftsman.

Charleston Forge’s American Made ethos doesn’t end at the factory door as almost all of the company’s vendors are located within 100-miles of Boone. North Carolina’s proud history of furniture-making means the company can take advantage of a tremendous depth of experience and skill right from their back door.

The fact that all products are handmade also gives the company the capability to easily customize their products as well as work with designers on completely original designs. These skills also give the company the means to work closely with many clients in the hospitality industry. This includes major hotel and restaurant chains, including Starbucks, for whom they have been building community tables for more than four years.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Will you help me choose a new kitchen table?** *(in Home Decorating)*

Last fall, we had our hardwood floors refinished and took the opportunity to make a slight adjustment in the placement of our kitchen island in order to gain more work space between the island and the perimeter cabinets. Previously, we had a table (36" X 60") placed perpendicular to the island in order to accommodate our family of 5. Now, we have less space for a table, but it's only the two of us. We have been thinking about using a 42" table in either round with a pedestal or square with 4 legs. We have been looking at Canadel because they have so many options, but I cannot make up my mind on a shape, style or color for the table. Will you help me choose??? Round or square? Pedestal or legs? Stained or white washed??? Whatever we choose, the table will be placed right next to the island.
Here is another table I found that might work, but it is slightly larger at 44" round.

And here are some pictures of the space as it is right now. The table in the picture is 36" wide. The light fixture will change after we find a new table. Also, we are still considering changing the countertops to something lighter.

If it will help, I can post another picture of this space without the table and chairs next to the island. Thanks for your help!

A: The Ventura is a great choice! Hand forged and made in USA (North Carolina) We have a great story and build furniture to last a lifetime.

**Q: I broke the coffee table rule. Now for a suggested fix!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We love the functionality of the coffee table; however, its extension past the arm bugs me. I knew the rule and broke it thinking I would get over it. In hindsight I should have extended the sectional one seat or purchased a round table. Yup, hindsight is always perfect. So, what about this pictured hair on hide? It may be just the solution I need? If you think this may work well, I'd probably also remove the floor lamp too? I don't want to order without the fabulous advice from the talented Houzz community. Whadda think? Thank you kindly!

A: Hi there! Charleston Forge weighing in here. The Lotus cocktail table looks so good! And the shape was a good call. Adding an end table is all that is needed, most likely. What did you decide to do?

**Q: custom round dining table** *(in Furniture)*

I’ve come across these two pictures of a dining table that I think would work perfectly in my space and looking for a large table top that can seat eight people with this type of base. I cannot seem to find it anywhere if anyone can tell me where I can get this or who can make this for me, I need some thing with adorable top as I have kids.

A: Charleston Forge weighing in here. Did you go with one of our custom tables? or a different direction?

**Q: barstools** *(in Design Dilemma)*

best bar stools in grey

A: Thank you! We appreciate your review and that yours are still in great shape. We really do build them to last, it's important to us.
