What new trends do you think will emerge in the coming year? New shapes and colors? Brand new styles? Let's hear them! Tell us! (Photos encouraged) A: So as a contractor we have removed many tubs and installed showers in place of them in the last few years. As a Realtor, I always like to see one tub left in the home. If you are planning on staying for 10 years or so, it certainly should be a lifestyle choice. I believe you must LIVE in your home. If necessary, you may make changes at the time of sale, but you should make yourself at home in the meantime! I have also noted a lot more color coming back and wallpaper too! Our neighborhood paint store has brought in some lovely papers from England as well as some great Asian papers. This lends to the thought that there will be more texture on the walls. The outdoors as another room is here to stay in a big way also. **Q: Will you share the paint and color?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: The paint is Benjamin Moore Affinity and the color is Kangaroo. We stripped the front door and were going to paint it but to our surprise it was a mahogany veneer that looked so good I just had my husband put polyurethane on it. We had to install the front kitchen window and two others that were bad. We were able to use the Anderson 100 series window in almond (I believe is the name) and it blended quite well. We were also stuck with the gutters that were on the home. But I drive by this house all the time and it I still love the choices I made! **Q: Windows for a new home Pella vs Lincoln?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Trying to decide between Pella or Lincoln Windows for our new home. A: I am not familiar with Lincoln either but for our contracting needs we go to Pella regularly. they have less expensive options as well as designer series. I will say that I looked at Pella and Marvin over ten years ago. Marvin was not as well known at that time and was a little better at that time. I chose a wrapped metal exterior with a paintable interior. The door felt similar but the hardware was heavier duty and the metal wrap was slightly heavier gauge. I was very happy then. You may find if you feel the weight of the hardware and inspect a little closer that they may be a little better ( the we're \#2 we try harder motto might be the case). Now we use Marvin also but I think the two companies are neck and neck in quality and service. Replacement parts are usually very easy to get if you need them with Pella also. The name is Definitely "Kalamata Olive" **Q: What are the smoke detector requirements in your area?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Are there ordinances or requirements in your area for how many and where smoke detectors should be placed in your home? Share your experience! (photos encouraged) A: Oh and a newer code does require one cabon monoxide detector in the home. **Q: where is the vanity from ?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: I purchased this vanity on line It is an All Modern Vanity 48" this is obviously in white but they also have very dark brown or almost black one I believe. The drawers are soft close. The cabinet itself seemed to be a pretty sturdy nicely finished product. I really liked the look when it came and even my picky husband thought it was nice for the money.
