My top of the line, heavy duty Croci Rolling Shutter was installed by Shade & Shutter just 1.5 years ago and already the aluminum box has corroded and the paint is peeling off. Croci claims to have a 5 year paint warranty to be serviced by the installer but Shade & Shutter refuses to honor the warranty or provide any remedy. This expensive ($5,100) rollshutter is meant to be durable and capable of withstanding the harshest of coastal conditions but has failed in very short time. A: They can be interior or exterior, however, most people use them for outdoor applications. They have an internal locking device that stops the individual slats from opening or closing. This is useful for closing up a porch area, keeping the wind from blowing the louvers opened or closed, and to keep little fingers from getting smushed if children are present. There is also an available locking pin option that goes into the floor to lock the doors into position and keep them from being opened from the outside. I would not say the locking pin is tamper proof. Again, the idea is, you will have locked doors going into the structure. Thanks! A: A product that is great for applications like this, is called Q Motion shades. They dont have any cords or plugs, but are automated by D batteries. This is a newer line, but we have done many installations and customers really love the look and ease of use.
