> worked with Brian when I bought my home in san francisco. Brian is the ultimate professional. tons of market knowledge and local contacts in each market. amazing eye for style and value. he really gets to know all of his clients, for purposes of tailoring his services to the needs of his clients. as a first time home buyer, there was alot that I needed to learn. Brian was super diligent and very patient, showing me home after home, before we finally found the 'right one' (a home that has proven to be the one of the best decisions of my life). he has also connected me with professionals in his network (handymen, plumbers, house painters, builders, etc), and each one of them has been a top notch experience. on top of all this, Brian happens to be a great guy.

> Brian Chancellor is an amazing real estate agent who treats you more like family than a business transaction. He came highly recommended to my husband and I when we were looking to purchase our first home together. We were initially hesitant to ask as we felt that our modest price point would be an insult to him. Boy were we glad we met with him! As first time home buyers, he made the process so seamless and easy that we were able to purchase a townhouse we were happy with in a short period of time. When we decided to become first time home sellers, in hopes of purchasing our "forever home," we immediately contacted Brian knowing that we would be well taken care of. And we were, we sold our first home in less than a week on the market with multiple offers! The timing was so perfect that we were also able to purchase our "forever home" in a neighborhood we never dreamed we'd be able to get into.

> I have had 5 real estate transactions with Brian Chancellor over the last 10 years and couldn't be happier & more impressed. His care, professionalism, thoroughness, and negotiation skills are stellar. Also, throughout my working with him it became very apparent that he is highly respected and well-liked by his colleagues in the business, which obviously benefits his clients. Having grown in Palo Alto and been a Realtor there for the last 20 years shows how incredibly connected he is to everything you need as a buyer or seller. Whether you want to be involved every step of the way or be hands off in the 'beautifying' of your property, he will adapt to your needs. To top it off, he is a joy to spend time with and always makes me feel like I'm a priority.

> Brian is a terrific Real Estate Agent! He knows the properties in this area really well, is very professional and it shows that he has been in this business for many years. If we ever sell or buy property again it will only be with him. He has helped us find both of our homes and it went very smoothly thanks to Brian.

> Brian is the consummate professional. He loves his work and he is good at it. By that I mean excellent. Our story goes a little like this:
> We moved from NJ with toddlers in tow to Palo Alto knowing nothing and nobody. Brian was a name and face on a webpage selected at random. We hit the jackpot. Over the course of an afternoon, touring Menlo Park and Palo Alto we got the lay of the land from someone who grew up here - the real estate market, neighborhoods, cafes, schools, restaurants, parks. Big quality of life elements that matter. We were only looking for a rental. Two days later we saw a listing on craigslist, and with advice and encouragement from Brian we landed a place to rent in Palo Alto. We couldn't have been more happy there, and it was a no-brainer that Brian would be our Realtor going forward. Three home purchases and sales later, in housing markets that were at a peak and at a low, Brian masterfully negotiated us into our home 2 blocks away, helping us to secure financing in the process. A few years later, when our dream home went on the market, Brian put together our bid (it was weak but the best we could do given we had no plan to sell our home at the time). We lost, but in true professional style, he worked to get us better financed just in case.... a few weeks later, opportunity knocked again, and Brian reworked our bid and we are now in our dream home 1 block away. We love our neighborhood. Selling our house gave us the opportunity to experience Brian's expertise on the other side. No drama - methodically, professionally, with Brian's army of professionals, the home was prepped, staged and landscaped with a great outcome for all. It is clear that Brian knows the business like no-one else, and beyond that, he is so ethically grounded and one of the just plain nicest guys you'd have the pleasure of working with.

> Short story: Brian is a great realtor with the perfect blend of knowledge and passion for real estate! He helped us buy two homes and sell one since we moved to Palo Alto in 2005, and has impressed with his market knowledge (see below for important details), his ability to negotiate, and his follow-through and attention to detail during listing and closing. Best of all he does it in an unfazed manner when the issues appear overwhelming, especially when getting ready to list your home (pricing, timing, handy man, staging, inspections and disclosures, landscaping, paperwork ...).
> Full disclosure: We relocated from the East Coast with 2 small children and preciously little knowledge about the Bay Area. Based on some vague recommendations from friends as to where we should look for a place we honed in on Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Mountain View. Before we relocated we 'found' a few realtors on the web, but when we met with Brian we knew very quickly that he was The One for us.
> Real Estate is famously all about location-location-location, but when it comes to securing a 'great deal' Market Knowledge rules. Brian's knowledge extends beyond a thorough understanding of the right prices/comps/trends for Peninsula neighborhoods down to an understanding of a neighborhood's diversity and character, local schools, traffic and accessibility (weekday reality is often quite different from what you experience during weekend open houses ...), and the best time to buy and sell (down to the weekend - serious!).
> All this comes from him having grown up in the Bay area, and that real estate runs in the family probably also helped for him to be so insightful, patient and effective. So if you need a realtor you really don't need to look any further.

> When my husband and I were ready to sell our place in Palo Alto, I suggested that we interview Brian before deciding to use the realtor who help us purchase our house. My husband clicked with Brian and we are so glad that we decided to use his services! Selling our home was complicated and we had to make a major repair before we could close. Brian worked with our home owners association, the city, and the engineers to get the job done. His commitment, knowledge and dedication made a stressful situation bearable and the house sold at a price higher than expected! If you're looking for an honest and experienced realtor, call Brian-- he's the best!

> Brian is amazing to work with. From the smallest details to the big picture, he takes everything into consideration when looking for a house. He listens to all the quirky things you want or don't want. Brian is knowledgable, honest, and very detailed. It was a pleasure working with him.

> Brian Chancellor did an outstanding job in getting our house ready for sale and sold it within days! He is very professional, informed and works with great integrity. I sincerely believe he is one of the best realtors out there. I will continue to work with Brian because he is genuine and results oriented.

**★★★★★ — Doug Dooley, June 2013**

> Brian is a dedicated professional who deeply understands both the economic and emotional components of residential real estate. Brian's core value system, work ethic, and approach as a trusted advisor makes him so valuable particularly to first time home owners. His network of realtors, contractors, lenders, brokers, and other folks connected to the real estate industry makes him so indispensable to a wide variety of clientele. Brian is not afraid to stand strong for his clients but also give those same clients insightful advice to help them avoid pitfalls and make well-informed decisions. With Brian, the client is ultimately in the driver's seat but his broad knowledge and proven track record for happy, life-long clients separates him from most.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Ditchin' our kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Brick walls and cedar ceiling can't be changed as they occur all through the house.
Layout works well.
What colours should we use for benchtops and cabinets.
I did post this earlier but with nighttime pics.
The attached pics are daylight ones .. might help you see the context better.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.

A: You can skim coat the brick to soften the look; plus you can mix the color in the mud and make it any color you like; very common in Denmark and looks great; Quartz is nice and hearty and the contrast of the light countertop and wood is nice and warm
