### Reviews

**★ — Dustin Danahan, Aug. 2023**

> A big show stopper with this place is the fact that if you want to buy
> pavers, travertine, stone tiles etc. you can only pick pieces from the open pallet. Issue is the open pallet typically has all the chipped/cracked and stuck together/repaired left overs left behind by other customers who picked before you.
>
> So even if the pallet has mostly chipped/cracked left overs they'd not
> open a new pallet for you. If you request they'd flat out say 'NO'. I can understand they are also trying sell their defective material also but
> insisting that you can't pick what you want even after paying full price was a show stopper for me.
>
> Another issue is, colors vary from pallet to pallet so if you need all the material from a single pallet you can't have it, you must buy and finish all the left overs from an open pallet before they'd open a new pallet for you which proved to be a significant issue for the project I was working where I needed uniform material.
> Also beware that they don't take returns.

**Comment from Peninsula Building Materials:**

> Dustin,
> As per our previously stated reply to your review on Yelp, we wanted to reiterate our
> willingness to help you and clarify a few things.
>
> I’m sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with your experience at one of our locations. We strive to assist our customers in finding the best material for each project. Occasionally, material can get damaged in transit to us, when this happens we do our best to move that product to our clearance area or dispose of it. In no way, would we want to sell any of our customers defective material. This would be counter-productive for our customers and for us.
>
> You are correct in that the colors vary from pallet to pallet. By the very nature of natural stone, color consistency can be difficult. This being the case, it is our policy to only open 1 additional pallet if needed for any order in question. The reason we do this is that if we allow any one customer to select a single color tone from a pallet it can distort the intended color blend for the next customer. It sounds like you are looking for a very uniform material, maybe in color? We hope one of our product specialists can help guide you to which products would be the best fit for your project. Within our policies, we would be happy to help find the stones that are needed for your project.
>
> To clarify, we do have a return policy and the products we stock qualify for returns. Again, happy to discuss this further and we hope you give us another try to supply material for your project. Please feel free to ask for Kevin, our store manager in Livermore. He would be happy to work with you.

> We have worked with PBM on multiple projects over the years. We have come to appreciate their beautiful showrooms in Sunnyvale and Mountain View and great customer service. PBM, is our preferred vendor for natural stone and hardscape material needs.

**★★★★★ — Tapia Construction & Restoration, June 2016**

> PBM is a FANTASTIC resource, not only for the industry professionals that visit daily, but also for homeowners. As a GC on the Peninsula, PBM is our top choice recommendation to homeowners looking to explore options and become inspired through the materials for future projects.

**★★★★★ — Stepstone, LLC, Dec. 2015**

> We have been working with Peninsula Building Materials for many many years now and they have been a huge help to us in promoting and selling our Architectural Pre-Cast Concrete products in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. With 5 locations and a knowledgeable sales support team you can be sure that when speak with them, you are getting the information that you need.

**★★★★★ — Glacier Stone Supply, LLC, Nov. 2015**

> As part of our distribution network, we have been working with Peninsula Building Materials for over a decade. Their staff in each of their 5 locations are extremely knowledgeable. With their expertise in the current markets, they position themselves on the forefront of industry trends fostering a collaborative partnership translating to material selections on the cutting edge of new emerging designs and architectural innovations. We have several of our materials displayed in their impressive 8500 sq. ft. contemporary showroom in Mountain View, California which is open to both professionals and the general public.

**★★★★★ — Touie, Inc., Nov. 2015**

> PBM is the best place to go when sourcing for quality stones. They carry a wide selection of stones and hardscape materials suitable to indoor, outdoor and landscape application. They have five locations - the showroom located in Mountain View is absolutely stunning and a showcase in itself. I send clients over there all the time. It is the perfect venue to get inspired, and visualize options without being overwhelmed. The staff is always very helpful, professional and informative. They always provide me samples for client meetings and never forget to follow up. This is really the place to shop for all your stone and hardscape material needs.

**★★★★★ — User, Oct. 2015**

> Peninsula Building Materials - Sunnyvale location has a great staff and my favorite display
> of materials for customers. Paver boards are available everyday outside in the customer parking area which makes it easy for clients to review options.
>
> The selection inside (M-F) is comprehensive and available for a walk through. Clients can pick the material and color, tag it on the spot and get it delivered the next day. Couldn't be any easier. Brick, veneer, stone, rock, and Calstone pavers right next door.
>
> Fantastic selection of garden stone!

**★★★★★ — Accolade Construction, Aug. 2015**

> Great place to go for stone materials and various other construction materials. All of the staff there are very friendly and very helpful.

**★★★★★ — goholly, July 2014**

> I have visited the three local PBM locations in my area: Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Redwood City. I have been to the Mountain View showroom four times looking at and trying to decide on stone for our landscape project. Although I have usually worked with Les, everyone there is very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. They understand purchasing this stone is a big decision - you have to live with it after it is installed and it is not inexpensive. I have never felt rushed or disregarded as I was being helped. If they don't know something specific about a particular stone, they are quick to find the answer for you. I've walked through the stone yards at Sunnyvale and Redwood City. The employees there were also quick to see if I needed any help and be of assistance, especially Jorge in Sunnyvale. They have a large selection of material and are very customer focused.

**Comment from Peninsula Building Materials:**

> Thanks for writing such a wonderful review of your experience with PBM. We look forward to continuing to work with you on your project.

**★★★★★ — kylepeterson, March 2014**

> I am a vendor rep who has worked with Brenda in securing hobs including track work, custom homes, commercial work, etc. She has always been very courteous and knowledgeable. I will have a continued working relationship with her in the future, and hope we can grow our success.

**★★★★★ — lilymartinez, March 2014**

> I am an architectural color designer. Upon builder's requests, I will need specific samples to perform my tasks. Brenda at PBM has provided me these samples on a timely turn around. Coordinating samples with Masonry and their representatives. Setting up meetings for me to be educated on their products and/or to answer specific questions to the projects requirements.
