**★★★★★ — ebmatingen, May 2022**

> We were referred to Taproot Garden Design by Lifescape and couldn't have been more pleased. Patrick & Topaze were professional and accommodating from the start, with a sincere appreciation for the specific look we were going for (modern ranch), including sensitivity towards a drought-resistant landscape and a safe environment for our dog. They understood the look we were going for almost immediately and started compiling ideas and layouts for us; even encouraging us to challenge them and ask for revisions to make sure they got it right. Their attention to detail was astounding: from the types of birds and butterflies that the chosen plants would attract, to the lines of our landscape that would result in a clean welcoming design. They viewed the inside of our house as well to make sure someones experience would transition artistically from inside our house to the front and back yard. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Be prepared to be impressed.

> I was introduced to Patrick & Topaze by my GC, who I have a really good relationship with. Upon meeting them I was immediately impressed with their fine gardening knowledge and expertise. Additionally, after we discussed some of the thoughts I had regarding our landscape, I was very pleased with the direction of their vision for our yard. Patrick and Topaze were great at creating a macro vision for our project, but then were able to create an incredibly detailed schematic of the project to ensure prospective contractors could estimate and execute effectively. I can honestly say that Patrick and Topaze created the vision and requirements for the project and did an amazing job shepherding the project through completion.

**★★★★★ — Russell Baker, Nov. 2019**

> We had a wonderful experience with Taproot designing the landscape for our front yard. Patrick and Topaze were very patient with us as we attempted to explain our ideas for our CA Native Landscape. They were able to listen to our ideas, interpret them (with a little "mind reading") and turn them in to a beautiful vision which has now come to fruition.
>
> On a professional level: They explained the process and payment system in a very clear and concise manner, so there were no surprises. They were punctual and respectful of our time, and took as much time as was necessary to accomplish the goals for each meeting. In addition to the formal plans, they provided a full plant list including color photos, materials list, and a detailed care sheet for how to care for each type of plant. They even gave us a small version of the plan for our daughter to color!
>
> They are both very professional while being masters in their own domains. Together they are quite a team with a great eye for design and impressive knowledge of plants. Because they also do fine gardening, they have invaluable first hand experience working with the plants themselves and therefore, how easy or difficult the maintenance can be. Having true knowledge of the CA Natives, and a passion for plants and design definitely makes them unique.
>
> We would highly recommend Taproot for your landscape design. We worked as a team to accomplish our goal of a CA Native Garden, and we actually had fun doing it!

**★★★★★ — Kenji Miller, Nov. 2018**

> Topaze and Patrick designed a beautiful, complete yard for us, including all parts of our lot. They selected a perfect mix of native, drought-tolerant plants, and added other interesting elements, including hardscape, stone walkways, and patios to our design. We love it. They are also our go-to experts for all plant and tree care questions and we have retained them for continued expert maintenance of our beautiful yard. We couldn't be more satisfied with their customer service, attitude and work product. We would highly recommend them to anyone.

  - Description: This darling garden in the Cambrian Park neighborhood of San Jose was designed by 'Taproot Garden Design & Fine Gardening' in the winter months of 2016 and installed by a local CLCA licensed contractor in the Spring of 2017. The master plan called for the removal of tired lawns from both the front and back yards, which made way for a decomposed granite front patio, raised vegetable boxes, a deck in the back yard, trellises with vines, pathways and walkways made using Connecticut bluestone full r…

  - Description: When the Baker family moved into their new house they knew they wanted a California native garden that, with minimal water, could survive the drought that California has been facing for years. Without hesitation, they removed the overgrown Boxwood hedges and a dried out lawn in their front yard. In September 2013, plans were made to begin this owner-installed garden that is now just over 4 years old. The only remnant of the old garden is a rusted windmill that stands as a sentinel, undisturbed.

  - Description: A balanced ecosystem for bees, birds, butterflies, lizards, and humans was the homeowner's main aspiration in this Campbell garden. Both husband and wife are avid bird watcher's and nature phototgraphers and wanted natural areas for wildlife to settle in and make a home of this space.
