In this case, we raised the back part of the deck up to allow people sitting there an easier look out. It also breaks up the pattern a bit and gives the whole balcony a little more structure.

  - Description: The customer wanted more of a modern look and to achieve this we used a "washed white" stain which then allowed greater highlighting of the furniture and red brick walls. We broke up the pattern with some vertical boards and the result was a bright, modern, look.

After finishing the job we didn't like the metal flashing all around the edges so we installed river stones all around which nicely finished it up.

We planted some special grasses that would grow to 3 feet which would provide privacy throughout the summer. The birch poles and grasses at the end were to provide privacy from the building next door.

It was laid in a staggered pattern and framed all round so that the look was clean and regular. Important to cover up all the bolts, nuts and concrete edges. I used 2 in. sleepers underneath the composite and this ensured good air and water flow as well.

The second, smaller, balcony was oddly shaped and required extensive cutting and fitting to fit the shape as well as the client's interest in having separated "rooms" on the balcony.
