Sent in a consultation request for iron legs on an outdoor table. Phoned 4 separate times asking if they would mind sending over a couple of pictures of table legs they had done before which they said they would be happy to email but never did. Finally received an email response 2 weeks later telling me to just bring the table in (after I had explained to them it's nearly 400 pounds and in storage so not easily moveable). Completely useless service. **★ — The London Group, March 2017** > Where do I start with this company. Went in for consultation for getting a rod iron railing placed inside the house as well as a wine cellar gate. We had signed and approved for a specific railing of which we picked from a gallery that they had on their computer, $21,000 later, railing arrived 4 weeks late, it was was not as intricate and detailed as the one we had picked from his picture. It was actually much less. but was there a reduction in price? NO. And when asked why the railing was not the railing we picked in the picture as we agreed he stated the contract said something SIMILAR, and not EXACT. When we asked why we were paying for a railing that we had not picked with less detail and less actual product used why the price remained the same? We had asked for a reduction in price to make things fair. Owners response "well we made the railing for you, you read the contract, you either pay or we'll sue". Having my hands tied as I had signed this contract, there was no option but to accept this railing however not without it's issues. > > -crooked iron rods > -different colored screws > -screws that were not drilled flat > -missing areas of powder coat > -oxidized areas where it was a yellowish/orange in color (blamed on the weather) > > This railing was to be a one of the main selling point of this home of which we were very unhappy. So to end my review I do not recommend this company for any work to be completed on your home. Poor customer service. Being threatened of a lawsuit if we didn't pay for a product that we did not agree to. Various contractors who were on our site dropped jaws at the poor workmanship, irresponsibility, and continuous problems that occurred with Riverside. > We experienced crooked install of iron rods, as well as screws that were not drilled in flat. When I questioned the latter, I was told this required a specific type of drill, and did I have one. > Orders arrived with missing pieces, and along with several visits to complete this job, this company took copious amounts of time from my life that I will never recover. Johnny told me that every visit cost him $150 an hour. Buyer beware; either this is a flat out lie, or you will pay $150/hour for two workers who either watch from the background or don't understand the concept of straight lines. > With this, Riverside was the gift that kept on giving. Months after the fiasco, an installer had to customize a glass piece for our deck (which therefore cost more), as the metal posts installed by Riverside were out 5/8". > Do not pay all your money up front. It is law that 10% of cost can be withheld until the service is complete. So glad I did, as not having paid the remaining balance gave me leverage in sorting out this disaster of an experience. Johnny was great to work with, gave excellent input in helping with some of our decisions, and was very organized. I am detail oriented, to put it mildly, and I am appreciative that this was not lost in any of our conversations. We were happy with the quote, especially as compared to other quotes we had received, and the project was on budget. A previous company did not even quote once they saw the project. I had very specific ideas about not using vertical supports to the granite stairs that came up from the garden to a wood deck and then immediately turned 90 degrees to a further rise of granite steps. I wanted the handrail support to be horizontal, direct to the uneven, vertical quarry rock structure that the staircase followed up from the garden. When Riverside's estimator, Bobby, first viewed the project he was sceptical about my idea of the handrail attachment, preferring to use vertical supports. Mostly for economy, I think. But when the fabricators showed up they had already curved the pipe section based on the photos Bobby had taken. A few modifications and measurements and the fabricators said "no problem". A few weeks later they arrived with all the pieces and finished the job as I had originally envisioned it. **★★★★★ — Patricia Walley, April 2016** > Johnny, Brad, and support have completed two jobs for us, with one just started. After careful consideration of at least two companies and many years of reno history, we chose Riverview due to the previous reviews and competitive pricing. The first job was to replace an outdated balcony railing, a side outdoor gate with support railings to the back yard and a railing to replace a rotten wooden railing from our backyard to our lower level. We are thrilled with the results. The second job was a beautiful indoor stairway railing from our formal entranceway to the lower level, the main floor, and to the upper level. We are thrilled with the results as with every support trades people. Each and every one were professional, highly qualified, took great care in detail, and were competitively priced. We would strogly recommend, as with Riverview. We have now hired Riverview for a mechanical driveway gate and support. Again, the price is competitive and the support equally as qualified.
