> Mike and his team did a great job converting a basement storage room into a walk-in closet. We really needed this additional clothing space and the results were better than expected. Mike provided the insight and recommendations needed. We had tried the 'chain' solutions but couldn't be more happy with the results Mike provided. We plan to use his services again soon.

> Mike and his team were wonderful to work with. I had a vision to turn an extra half bath off the kitchen into a bar. After discussing my thoughts and getting their suggestions, we came up with a plan. The project took a little longer than anticipated, but it was well worth it. The end result is even better than I imagined! Mike communicated with me throughout the process to set expectations and was very responsive. He went out of his way to make sure I was a happy customer. He succeeded!

**Comment from Great Closets of New England:**

> Thank you, Michelle! The whole team really enjoyed working with you to deliver your vision. Again, thank you for your patience as the timeline ended up being longer than we expected, but I think in the end we nailed it. One of my top fav projects now! I added some before pics and one of my fav elements the epoxy bar top! Cheers!

> We hired Mike and his team to create a design for laundry room space that wasn’t living up to its potential.
> He came up with a wonderfully functional design based on my desires and needs. His team created quality shelving, counter space, and storage that now makes my laundry room one of my favorite rooms in the house!
> We also had some storage and shelving installed in our garage. An excellent addition for keeping kids toys, sports equipment, and yard tools organized and accessible.
> The two jobs Mike has done has made our home more functional and efficient. We were very happy with the quality of work, and his team was considerate of our home and family.
> If we have future storage or design issues in the future we would definitely contact Mike!

**Comment from Great Closets of New England:**

**★★★★★ — Kerry Jerin, March 2019**

> Extremely pleased with the outcome of our closet. There was a delay on the installation because the supplier didn’t immediately have the material we ordered in stock but once it arrived Mike’s team was over the same afternoon. Mike and his team were friendly and professional and we will keep them in mind for any future projects.

**Comment from Great Closets of New England:**

> Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate your patience with the delay, but glad you and Chris are happy with the final product.

## Community Q&A

**Q: I just want the cabinet, not the shelves. What is the dimension of the** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the dimension of the cabinet length of and width?

A: Hi Jane- the total width of the space is just over 9 Ft. The cabinets are made up by three (3) 36"Wx36"H x 23"D base cabinets. The cabinets are made by Fabuwood Cabinetry. The top is maple butcher block with an ogee edge. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. Mike

**Q: Pantry** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you give the total dimensions of your pantry, please? Looks great!

A: Hi Megan- The wall unit is 9 FT. There are 3 cabinets each are 36"x 24" deep. The butcher block top is roughly 9 FT long x 25" deep. The shelving is mounted 18" above the counter and is 3 sections each are 36"w x 36" H and 12" deep. Let me know if this is the info you are looking for. Thanks - Mike

**Q: Dimensions** *(in Photo Questions)*

How deep are the shelves holding the shoes?

A: Those shelves are 16" deep.

**Q: Need help with master layout and closet** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are building- our current layout is A (closets would have individual doors), some other options we are considering are B with closed closets, and C with offset entry. Which option would you choose if any, and any advice or other suggestions? For the bathroom we don't want a tub, and for the closet we just want max space.

A: No doors. No sliders especially. Treat it like a dressing room.

**Q: Closet design ideas** *(in Organizing the Home)*

Hello,
What are some must haves/dos when designing a closet?
Our closet 16ft x 9ft which I think is too large now that the house is built.
My husband and I don't have a huge amount of clothes or shoes and I would actually like the space to not only be a wardrobe but to be the hub of storage and organisation for all kinds of things, like cameras and electronics for example.
I realise this is pretty vague. I'm clueless about what to do with such a space but don't want to waste it.
What would you do to make the most of a space like this?
Thank you in advance.

A: While 16x9 may feel big but you'll be happy in long run. Its a great size for a closet/dressing room and huge plus with buyer on resale. I'd decide what type of budget you have to add clothing storage and then storage for other items. Do you want it to all be the same closet material and designed together for a customized built in look or not. I recommend finding one and use for all. That space will not be inexpensive no mater what material you use, unless you use cheap particle board like a Closetmaid system from Home Depot or Lowe's. Ikea is great if you can put up with the amount of assembly needed for that type of space. Container stores are a very good ventilated product, we've used in past, just very expensive for wire shelving that is usually self installed (no ability to customize for different lengths other than what they offer 2FT & 4FT, unless cutting) I've attached a design for a large space like yours we did for a client. They chose no drawers or behind door storage to keep it open and meet budget. We added a large low decorative fabric bench in the middle to break up space and give a warm feel and a place to sit and put shoes on. We have lots of projects posted with designs. Take a look for ideas...best of luck and congrats on the new home....Mike

**Q: Closets in Master Bath a bad idea?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi everyone,
The plans for our new home call for two closets (his/her) in the master bath. My husband also does not want to use doors to the closet. Is this a really bad idea because the moisture from the bath will create mold in the closets? Thoughts? Anyone have current/previous experience with this issue?
Thank you!

A: Having MBR located in the master suite is quite common in New Home Construction in New England. The only issue we come across is the deterioration of engineered wood composite product used in closet storage systems. Over time, the untreated edges attract moisture, which leads to expansion and a breakdown of material. We remove many of these systems along with wire systems and in repairing the wall surfaces, we've never found any moisture issues with drywall in closets. Great Closets of New England only uses a 100% real wood component product with maple edging and a veneer surface. Check out our projects listed on our profile. Best of luck in your new home.
