## Community Q&A

**Q: Kitchen needs to be updated...help :)** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I want to update kitchen without replacing my travertine floors, granite & I don't want to replace cabinets but I can paint them. I'm trying to pick paint too, that's why the walls have different paint color. I appreciate any feedback!

A: I'd start with painting the walls a color that will give you a little contrast. Right now they are basically the same color as the cabinets so maybe something lighter to brighten up the space and maybe more toward the warm grey that you have painted in the one area. You could add different hardware, different hardware that might be a little more of a focal point, even a backsplash in a lighter color (subway tile?)  And I like Paula's idea of a nice window treatment; maybe a roman shade vs. a poufy valance.  Good luck!

**Q: Does this coffee "table" look okay - yay or nay?** *(in Polls)*

We've been using this storage bin to store our kids' toys. I was looking at pottery barn for a new coffee table and found tables that look similar for approx $500. Figured we could repurpose this bin to use as a table. It's on the small side 3x1.5, but seems to fit nicely in our living room. I was thinking of adding a glass top, to make it look more professional. Thoughts - yay or nay?

A: I don't mind the basket (great to store throws, etc.), but it just looks a bit too small. And it doesn't look like it is sturdy enough to put your feet up or to put a drink on.

**Q: Cathedral Ceiling Wall looks empty.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We recently expanded the house, this big wall looks kind of empty... I don't know what to do with it?  The solution should also hopefully help us store the toys lining the wall... What should we do!???

A: Color!  You have a white cabinet on a white wall on a nearly white floor.  And since you  do not have the cabinet centered under the peak of the cathedral ceiling, you really need something to create some balance, like artwork as previously suggested.
