She made recommendations for the placement of our existing furniture and rugs as well as recommending new pieces, their sourcing, and their placement. I was especially pleased with her ideas for lighting, something I was having a difficult time envisioning. She chose a beautiful chandelier for the entry that was very reasonably priced, but makes a real statement at our entrance. Along with that, she chose very attractive sconces, kitchen pendants, and additional canned lights in the living room to brighten it up. She suggested cherry hardwood flooring on the first and second floors and retaining the existing carpeting on the third. The interior wall colors that she picked out are perfect and flow beautifully from room to room. She recommended built-in cabinetry and window seats in several rooms and I was very, very pleased with the finished result. Another one of her strengths is choosing the right fabric for cushions and upholstered pieces. She has a great eye for color and pattern. Throughout the project she was very attentive to staying within budget and hiring top quality people to complete the work. Last minute, we needed a designer to help us with the final leg of our kitchen/family/sunroom remodel project. Not only was she assessable and accommodating, but she quickly understood the elements where we needed help, came up with practical solutions and was able to direct us on how best to finish each element. For example, we were struggling with our final wall color. No joke, we made 3 separate visits to the paint store and each time we came home with between 10-14 different color choices to place on our walls. Each time, the colors in the stores looked much better than when we ultimately applied them to the walls at home. This process maybe ate up a total of 18 hours of time between time at the paint store selecting color swatches to sample and then ultimately applying them and then painstakingly deciding why they didn't work. No joke, Lydia came in, listened as we explained the dilemma, picked up the color wheel and within 15 minutes picked the ultimate color which we now have on our walls. And EVERYONE, who visits our home comments on how well the color compliments our kitchen! She made easy work of deciding cabinet pulls/knobs, lighting fixtures, window trim, and furniture placement. It was a joy to work with her and put us immediately at ease at how painless the process was with her. We would come back for her level of expertise with any future projects!
