> The best way to describe Southern Custom Homes (SCH) owned by Lee and Teresa Blackmon is ... Over Promise, Over Charge, Over Due and Under Deliver. We remodeled our home and it was the worst and most unprofessional experience of our lives. Our six month project is now in 20th and is not complete with no correspondence from SCH.
>
> Problems we had with SCH:
> 1\. SCH filed a fraudulent permit with the city, it did not cover scope of project.
> 2\. Inspections required by most of the trades were not scheduled or completed, no final inspection ever scheduled or completed. City served SCH a Notice of Violation to update the permit and pay correct fees, complete the work and inspections with possible fines due.
> 3\. Mistakes and errors made on the house are to numerous to mention here.
> 4\. SCH made numerous changes without oral or written consent.  No change orders were ever filed and signed by us to document or approve any non requested changes.
> 5\. SCH overcharged for changes with no documented or approved change orders. We did make some changes and upgrades that we gladly paid for, but SCH was over budget in almost every area listed on our initial estimate with very little justification.
> 6\. We received threats from subs used by SCH on the renovation to place liens on the home because they had not been paid by SCH.
> 7\. Correspondence and communication was difficult at best. SCH often failed to respond to emails, texts and phone calls in a timely manner, (not just days buts sometimes weeks) which resulted in errors being made on the house at costs to us to fix the mistakes.
>
> The items listed above are a broad overview of the issues we had with SCH. Throughout the project, Lee and Teresa Blackmon continually displayed a complete lack of organizational, managerial and communication skills as shown by the numerous errors and lack of attention to detail that should be provided by custom builders. In addition, their complete disregard for timelines, customer care and service made what was supposed to be a fun and exciting renovation project a horrible and stressful experience. The only recommendation I could ever make for SCH is to NEVER use them.
