> When you’re as happy to see your contractor on the last day of the project as you were the day he started, you know there’s something special going on; such is the case with Alex Seaton (AJS remodel). Alex essentially rebuilt the front of our 19th century home—bathroom, foyer, entry and we couldn’t be more pleased. He is a true craftsman, with high and exacting standards, and it shows in his impeccable work and attention to detail. The work is quality and it’s obvious. Every hinge, fixture, shelf, hook, moulding, etc. etc. was thought out and addressed with a level of care and concern beyond anything I have ever experienced with a contracting project. If something was not up to his standards, Alex redid it without being asked (i.e., a tile in the shower that wasn’t laying just right). Alex made many useful suggestions regarding what was needed and how to make things “look right” (e.g., a radiator cover that I initially fought him on is now one of my favorite pieces!). In addition, Alex is a really “good guy,” maybe one of the few around in this business. That means he is someone with whom you can be comfortable accepting as part of your life for several weeks on end and under less than ideal circumstances. He is the type of guy that will paint a door and then replace your dog gate without being asked—a little thing but it says volumes!!!! I look forward to working with Alex, very soon, on our next renovation project.

> Alex Seaton is, by far, the best contractor we have ever worked with. He is a professional with very high standards, so your renovation will be perfect. Alex made many useful suggestions about how we could best utilize the space in our kitchen to make it more functional for our lifestyle. However, he never tried to upsell the job and respected our budget. He is a meticulous craftsman and is mindful of small touches that make a big difference. Alex does not cut any corners and sticks to schedules. He has a natural eye for design and will offer advice in that area if you request it.
>
> Alex has his own custom woodworking shop where he fabricated and stained all of our moldings and was also able to modify one of our Kraftmaid cabinets to overcome a measurement error made by the orange apron measurement service.
>
> We are absolutely delighted with our new kitchen and would recommend AJS to anyone!

## Community Q&A

**Q: bar edge** *(in Photo Questions)*

how did you get the bar top edge to look this way? the trim

A: Not quite sure what you mean... It's typical bar rail available at most millwork suppliers. If you mean the color, it's several coats of a Sherwin Williams stain, a few toner coats, then a few clear coats.

**Q: lamont** *(in Photo Questions)*

hi there, just wanted the dimensions of the bar

A: It's been awhile since I built it, but I'd estimate about 8' long, 22" deep and 48" tall.

**Q: Cabinet** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi there can u tell me what colour greybr the cabinets? Thx so much.

A: The color is multiple coats of Sherwin Williams Beechwood interior stain. It was applied heavy to give a more opaque look. The bar was then sealed and sprayed with a conversion varnish for durability.
