Everything about the whole process was wonderful! The packaging around the stone was incredible. Every piece of stone, ( I think 17 pieces) was fit into the custom built crate like a jig saw puzzle. Not one crack or chip in any countertop. So we ended up with the exact soapstone countertops we wanted, cut to the exact size we wanted, and shipped over 1100 miles to our driveway for 1/3 of the price we were quoted locally. For instance, in our case the installation crew arrived without adequate material for installing the farmhouse style sink. We had specifically called on the phone to ask how they were going to support the given style of our sink and they said it would be supported by a pair of 2x4 wood pieces. And I kid you not, the crew had come with 1/4" wood strips that they were planning to stick together and use! My husband had to excuse himself from a meeting to make a quick run to Home Depot to buy the required 2x4 as I would not allow them to proceed with what they had on hand. It was most inconvenient to say the least. > > You have gone to great trouble to have several pages of legalese and penalties that we would incur in all possible situations, to protect your interests. I'd like to point out how we went to great lengths to cheerfully accommodate your team member when they showed up a day ahead of the appointed date for templating, due to some scheduling errors. And as a matter of fact, we were both in the middle of meetings that morning. A: Hi Benjamin, The slate tiles are a dark gray honed and the soapstone is honed as well. **Q: Is the soapstone counter pictured here treated with anything?** *(in Photo Questions)* It's my understanding that soapstone should be oiled or waxed, which would give it a glossier finish than that in the picture (and likely darker)...? A: This soapstone island has not yet been oiled. Once you use beeswax or mineral oil on the stone it will darken.
