We had been working with an architect who did a good job drawing plans according to what we told him, but we grew frustrated because we realized that we didn't really know what we wanted. We needed a designer before we needed an architect. We found both in CID. Bruce really helped us figure out what it was that we wanted in a home and came up with a design that we really love. He was really fun and easy to work. He turned a frustrating experience into an enjoyable one so much so that we have recently asked him to help us with our landscape design as well. **★★★★★ — medhursn, April 2016** > Engaged Concepts in Design to take a vision I had for a craftsman influenced remodel with a varied collection of elements and turn it into a balanced and harmonious practical solution. Enjoyed working with Bruce who has knowledge, experience and an appreciation for a wide variety of styles from classic to modern to make livable reality out of our aspirations. **★★★★★ — lynnesews, March 2016** > My husband and I have done many home remodeling projects over the years, and hiring and monitoring the work has rarely been a pleasant experience. We found that unless you have a lot of experience as a contractor, it is hard to know what to expect as far as costs, efficiency, and quality goes. We have hired in the past, contractors that act as if you have an unlimited budget, as they continue to re-evaluate the cost for the job. Some have made expensive errors, and refuse to take responsibility. > When we met with Bruce Pierce, we soon found out what we did not know about the best way to do a remodeling project. Bruce was a godsend for us, by acting like our remodeling guardian. After we met, and we understood his qualifications, and just what he could help us with, we were both relieved of worry. > He had terrific design ideas, and he never cuts corner when it comes to making our ideas work with the design and existing structure of your home. His team came up with the drawing and discussed them with our contractor. A big thing for this project was that Bruce had all of the bids come to him first for inspection, before anyone started the job. +++ :) > Bruce, himself has many years of hands on building experience and this helped a lot with building communication and trust with our contractor. The contractor and Bruce worked well as a team, and if any questions or concerns came up, all he had to do was give a call to Bruce with a quick response. This was a pleasant experience because we had a nice work flow going all the way through. > I could go on and on about how Bruce helped us create the home of our dreams, but it's best to just call him and let him explain to you all of the services he provides. > I will just say this, if we ever build a new home, or remodel again, I will not do it without Bruce at Designs In Concept. We have enjoyed our home so much, and there isn't one thing I can complain about. **★★★★★ — rwallace97, March 2016** > Bruce Pierce has delivered several innovative, creative designs for both interior and outdoor projects that our association has sponsored for features in national consumer magazines. His knowledge of materials -- especially wood -- and appreciation for flair and color are true distinctions recognized by his many clients. Bruce is open to a client's input and strives to make every project one that leaves a lasting impression. > > Richard Wallace > SOUTHERN FOREST PRODUCTS ASSOCIATION **★★★★★ — noltepa, March 2016** > I have worked with the Concepts in Design for several years on various projects. They have always been professional and timely. Pricing is very fair. > The designs are very creative and inspire many great compliments from our friends and clients as the see the various projects they have designed for us. > I highly recommend them for any job! **★★★★★ — Ginger Crozier, March 2016** > Bruce and his team did an awesome job with designing our small house and making it more useable. Bruce met with us multiple times to get just the right details and make sure we were happy with his plans. I would recommend his company for any of your design needs! **★★★★★ — TechConstruction corp, March 2016** > I have hired CID for design work in a couple of projects, they have been very professional, always available to discuss the projects during the design time and always available to come to the project site to answer any questions my construction foreman may have. > Bruce, Santi and Chris are a pleasure to work with. **★★★★★ — janaeerin84, March 2016** > We came to Bruce with a tall order of items we wanted in our dream house with a shop attached to it for our business. He was more than helpful, suggesting new ideas while listening to our ideas and thoughts throughout the process. We were so grateful we found someone with the talent to create what we were looking for and someone who cared enough about our opinions to incorporate our personal flair as well! We had talked with several others before settling with Concepts in Design and no one else could have done it. If we ever build again, we will be back for more! **★★★★★ — anjiepeter, Dec. 2014** > We worked with Bruce to remodel two bathrooms in our 50's ranch. Could not be happier with how it turned out. Bruce was creative and worked very well with the space limitations we have. We very much enjoyed working with him. **★★★★★ — sandrastone, Feb. 2014** > Bruce provided designs for the exterior of our home. We completely changed the entrance and added a very large outdoor patio/deck with bar, sink and cooking space. He listened to our ideas and understood our style. We would recommend his design services to anyone! **★★★★ — J Mc, Dec. 2013** > CID was recommended by my contractor and I am incredibly happy with their work. I purchased a house with the intent of remodelling the public spaces on the first floor. The kitchen was turned into a pantry/laundry room, the dining room into the kitchen and the den into the dining area (when I take pictures I'll post them). The idea was to take a 1930s-40s Beaverdale Brick and create an open floor plan without losing the character of the space. This was definitely accomplished. > > Bruce and I spoke at length about what I was hoping for in my house and I've ended up with a space that I absolutely love. Not only did he help with general design of space, but also design of cabinets and colors (both of which continually receive loads of compliments). **★★★★★ — ray4ellen, Dec. 2013** > We have worked with Bruce on several projects; the first of which was a basement finish with a contemporary flair. Bruce is a self-described “old hippy” who has not lost his flair for creative thinking. We were so pleased with our collaborative efforts on the basement project that we decided in 2002 to work with him on a contemporary home design. The building site was a fairly steep slope with a river valley view. Through the joint efforts of Bruce and our builder, we were able to stay within budget and build a “showcase” home. We have since hired Bruce to design an atrium addition to our home. ## Selected projects - [03 - PIERCE RESIDENCE - DES MOINES AREA](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/03-pierce-residence-des-moines-area-pj-vj~398483) - Location: DEXTER, IA - Photos: 8 - [SC CUSTOM HOME](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sc-custom-home-pj-vj~1352323) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 13 - [Hanson Residence- Des Moines Area](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/hanson-residence-des-moines-area-pj-vj~222285) - Location: Ankeny, IA - Photos: 14 - [M.
