I was in desperate need of a flooring company that could help me with a problem that my terrible general contractor caused. I hired the general contractor to stain my floors and for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to use a $6 Rejuvenate product on my brand new floors. Not only did they use this crappy product on my floors but they also applied it incorrectly so there was white clouds of streaks all across my floors in addition to crappy streaks of polish. I called 4 different flooring companies and all but Selecta said that I needed a buff and coat. Selecta was the only company who offered to actually call the company that made the product to see if there was a solution to strip the product from my floors and therefore not have to do a buff and coat which would have been a much more invasive process and would require me to move out all my belongings out and back in. Selecta went out of their way to find the easiest and best solution (at a much lesser price). My floors are perfect. They are the best. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. They were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. They weren’t there to upsell me for things I didn’t need and would likely have messed up my floors even more. I could not be happier. I called Selecta based on the many positive reviews I read online. From the start, Scott was extremely helpful. You could tell he was very knowledgeable, and he spent ample time talking to me and also provided a lot of information via email, for me to make an informed decision. I did not feel any pressure from him and he well presented all of the available options. This was a wood floor installation of my entire first floor, and I had a very particular look in mind. He worked with on timing and was very accommodating to my schedule. He also was able to find the exact wood type and grain I wanted. Next came working with Joe, who was on site for my installation and finishing. He was very easy and pleasant to work with. He and Patrick helped with the color matching, which i was very particular about. They took the time to LISTEN to exactly what i wanted and spent plenty of time laying down sample colors and mixing various blends for me until I found the finish that was just what I wanted!! Andre and the rest of the crew did an impeccable job installing and finishing. All were super professional, courteous and again, took the time to LISTEN to what I wanted. Also, I asked for longer boards, and they specified 3-10 foot lengths in their quote, but the actual flooring was more like 3-7 foot lengths. In practice, such a huge difference (60%) means it is time to get still more bids, and ask more questions. (c) not nearly enough time was left for selection and discussion of the floor finish stain color, especially given the price. I would like to have done that on a separate day, but it was done minutes before application. I have no idea why the 2 sided corner fireplace is there and the niche makes it look so awkward and unbalanced. This is a gas fireplace. Ideally I would like to move the fireplace to the middle of the whole wall and work around it. I just don't know if it's really expensive or if the flue can be angled. Should I utilize the full height of the ceiling? The ceiling is 12 ft high. Should I just fill it in with lower cabinets and a bigger TV? Should I remodel the fireplace but leave it where it is? The natural wood goes great in this room **Q: Old home flooring dilemma-old parquet meets new flooring** *(in Flooring)* Hi All, we live in a great old home that has dark parquet tiles in the DR, Office and hallways and light red oak in the kitchen. We want to replace the old carpet throughout the rest of the home with wood floors. Would you stain the new floors dark and try and match the parquet (not sure of the wood used in the parquet.. Maybe teak?) or contrast a golden oak color like the kitchen with a dark feature strip border? A: You have great parquet floors. We will suggest matching the darker stain with the rest of the floor since majority of your home has the darker floors. This will also allow a special focus to your kitchen with the different flooring you can create different ambiance in your rooms throughout the house. **Q: lovely oak floor - love the knots. is this common grade or select?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: This is character grade, select would be no knots, common is small pin knots and some mineral streaking lots of color variation. Character grade has all the characteristics ofcommon only more extreme.
