Old World worked with us to customize the project to meet our needs. The crew that actually did the work was outstanding. Old World Brick Paving was not the cheapest estimate but the quality and service of their work made it worth the extra cost, especially considering that it will last and look great for many years. **★★★★★ — Ron LeSaar, July 2015** > Our experience with Old World Brick Paving has been wonderful and our new patio addition and fire pit have really added to our back yard experience and value. I contacted Frank to see if they would take on this relatively small job and we set a date for him to see the site and price it out. Frank took the time to explain how OWBP's work was different from the rest and that their materials and workmanship were top quality. I got one other estimate from a landscaping & paver company, and although it was less than OWBP, their details, care, and knowledge of the product were all lacking. OWBP promised a deeper foundation with more compressed levels of stone and a better locking sand layer – even though it was just a fire pit and patio, and not a heavily used walkway or driveway. We paid a one-third deposit and got our spot on their job schedule. I pulled the village permit, and when Frank called that we were next – we were ready to start. Despite dodging a few days of rain, the whole job took 3 days; just as promised. Edgar and his crew of 4 or 5 dug the patio circle by hand and transported the dirt by wheelbarrow to their loader in the front. With our fenced yard, they couldn't fit a Bobcat or similar mechanical diggers into the back. The gravel and sand were brought in the same way on wheelbarrows. Our village wanted an inspection after the gravel was compressed and before any pavers went down. After that, the sand came in, was compressed, and the laying of the pavers began. The crew took pains to extend the complicated Unilock pattern from our existing patio right through to the new addition, seamlessly. Edgar was easy to work with and took direction from me well. He also came up with some design ideas on his own. These guys really knew the material and were a great team. The transition of the patterns from new to old patios was crucial with our sailor-course color continuing around the entire perimeter. The team definitely succeeded there! Although our original gray pavers have faded some over the last 8 years – a good power washing will make them match the new ones perfectly. The crew always arrived on time and kept a neat work area. I would definitely recommend Old World Brick Paving to anyone planning a paver project. Our patio was thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed, resanded and an oil based sealer was applied. Frank fully explained the difference between water and oil based sealing. Be aware that not all companies offer oil based sealers. We chose oil based as it lasts longer and requires less maintenance.
