> The Mathews team did an above average job on renovations to a house we bought. We had some ideas of what we wanted changed but their vision took it all above expectations. It is so beautiful There were no issues. All questions were answered and it was done In time frame expected. We are excited to work with them again in the future !

> Not recommend!! I would give it less than one star if I could. There was never a foreman on site the whole time the house has being built, except for his daughter. The dining room window is not centered in the room as the plans, the fireplace was set on the wrong side, a door was removed that I did not ask to be remove and when I had to add it back, they charged me over $2000 to do it, The light sconces in the master bath are set uneven, one is higher than the other on each side, etc. etc. etc. Too many things to list. It’s been seven months and I cannot even get them back to finish up the walk-through items. They will not even return my phone calls. They are super nice people when you meet them but find another builder.

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your home-building experience with us. We genuinely appreciate all comments from our clients, both positive and negative, as they provide valuable insights for us to improve our services.
>
> We understand that building a home with multiple changes can be a complex process, and we apologize for any inconvenience or frustration you may have encountered along the way. Our aim is always to ensure that our clients have a smooth and enjoyable experience, and we regret that we fell short of your expectations in this instance. You signed off on all four change orders prior to us completing the work and also approved five versions of your selection sheet during the building process. The plans were modified during your second meeting with our interior designer, and you requested the fireplace be moved and to remove the door from your flex room. After framing and during brick work you wanted to change back to having the door in your flex room. This change required adding back the door, changing the framing, moving electrical, and re-doing masonry work along with interior sheet rock work. You were charged for labor and materials used in making this change, not changing your mind.
>
> As with all of our projects, the builder or project manager was in fact on-site every day during construction. Reference to our daughter, who is also a project manager for our company, is also true as she was onsite each week to review the project for finishes and take pictures since your health prevented you from being on-site during construction.
>
> A punch list would normally have been completed within 30 days of closing but for personal reasons, you rescheduled with us 3 times until all walk-through items were completed in March of 2023.

> Took way too long to build my house. Takes forever to get response for warranty work. I would never recommend this company to anyone. His on-site supervisors are unprofessional and rude to the clients. I have had request for warranty work on my garage door in since early November - the supervisor came out and told me that I was blocking the signals but not the case. Intermittently, my garage door won't close from the key pad or the remote and when I go inside the garage - I have to hold the button or the door stops again. The attic door is so hard to pull down and they tell me it should be tight but when I have to get someone to come close the attic door for me, then there is something wrong. Now I have issues with my gas logs not lighting. Logged an issue today. I would love to have my fireplace for Christmas but these people won't respond if their pervious track record hold true.

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> Without seeing who left this review it is hard to respond but I believe it was Mrs. Joyce Thomas in The Springs of Mill Lakes. We received a building permit on her home in October of 2020 and she closed and moved into her home in April of 2021 which was a 7 month build time. During covid this was an incredibly short time to build with all of the delays we experienced for windows, doors, and appliances.
>
> Unfortunately, intermittent problems with garage doors are difficult to troubleshoot and we have to come by multiple times to see the failure not just receive a report. We are happy to report that we were able to fix her problem and complete her one year punch list and she was able to use her fireplace all winter.

> Jim handled the remodeling of a bonus room and bath at our previous residence and was the builder of our new house. The manner in which he conducted the projects was timely and done in a very professional way. We were very pleased with the remodel and the new construction. All of his subcontractors were great to work with and performed their part of the construction very satisfactorily. Jim and Kim are wonderful to work with and are trustworthy partners in any remodel or new construction you wish to do. I would recommend to anyone.

> We bought a home in The Waters from Jim in February and were able to customize it for our style. We selected the cabinets, quartz counters, flooring, lighting, trim and tile and love how he brought our ideas to life. Working with Jim and his team was easy with their online project management system. We could see weekly the schedule and pictures of how things were being done. We would highly recommend building with them in The Waters or in your favorite neighborhood. We are completely satisfied with our new home.

**★★★★★ — Anedra Williams, Jan. 2017**

> Mr. Mathews was so pleasant to work with. He was understanding and open minded with our home plans. Anytime we wanted to make changes Mr. Mathews worked with us and honored our requests. We stayed updated with our construction and were provided access to our home during the building process to see how things were coming along. I would recommend Mr. Mathews to anyone looking to build their dream home.

**★★★★★ — jackit16, March 2016**

> Our remodeling experience was very professional and hands on. Jim came by at least once a day to make sure the project was going as planned. The project was projected to last 3 weeks and it was completed well within the time frame. All of the subs were very trustworthy and professional. We highly recommend using Mathews Construction and will definitely use them again in the future.

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> This client had a jack and jill bath and an en suite bath with the original tile, cabinets, lighting, and cultured marble counters. By adding new light fixtures, tile, painting the cabinets, adding granite counters with undermount sinks and new plumbing fixtures. These bathrooms now have a clean and cool appearance. The original chandelier in the tub area really stands out after adding mirror wraps to the counter to ceiling existing mirrors. By using the same subcontractors for my jobs, I'm able to ensure a level of professionalism through out a remodel and a new home project. My partners take as much pride in their work as I do and we all work together to meet the needs of our home owners. Before and after pictures are below.

**★★★★★ — jepa2, March 2016**

> Jim built a house for the 2015 Montgomery Parade of homes. As soon as I walked in I was wowed with the kitchen/great room area. I love to entertain and it was a space perfect for it. After securing a lot we asked Jim to build us the same home with a few tweaks. Jim is an excellent contractor, easy to work with and always willing to help. Deadlines were met and other than my add ons the budget was met. He worked with us to get the home we wanted and we couldn't be more pleased.

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> Joan and Steve were very prepared for the building process and knew exactly what they wanted in their new home. The changes they made to the original customized the house to meet their needs. We met weekly to review progress and to ensure that selections for finishes were completed as needed. Constant and consistent communication is essential when you are building a home for clients. I pride myself on being able to listen more often than I speak to ensure that needs are not just heard but, understood.

**★★★★★ — lsbarnes, Feb. 2016**

> As a newly married couple and new homeowners, Jim had his hands full with helping us build our first home together a couple of years ago. We couldn't be happier with the results! We are very much enjoying raising our family in our dream home.

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> These first time homebuyers were thoroughly prepared with their list of requirements and finishes for their new home. Their extensive research ( done on Houzz) and attention to design detail made it easy for us to work together on how the final product would be built. I am a firm believer that the more time spent on the design phase, the happier the owners are with the end result.....a custom home that is truly what they wanted.

**★★★★★ — emcnair19, Feb. 2016**

> We hired Jim and his team for an outdoor room project and internal remodel. We were so pleased with many ideas he brought to the project. Jim was very responsive, and did what he promised - very professional. Came in on time and within budget. We are so happy with the results.

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> The clients wanted to replace the wooden deck that was in the breezeway between the kitchen and garage with an outdoor living space that could be used year round. They wanted an outdoor kitchen, wood burning fireplace, a large flat screen tv, a dining area, and a large seating area that their entire family could enjoy. After meeting with the clients, I recommended covering the porch and blending the two existing roof lines so that even in inclement weather the outdoor space could be enjoyed. The addition of unique lighting, landscaping, and custom furnishings completes their "outdoor living room".

**★★★★★ — K Keene, Feb. 2016**

> We added a screen porch with fireplace to our home. Jim and his crew were very professional, cleaned up the site everyday and finished the project a few days early. It was a great experience and we highly recommend Jim.
> Jay and Karen Keene

**Comment from Jim Mathews Builder:**

> The Keene's had a great vision for their outdoor living area. They knew they wanted it to blend in with their existing roofline, have a wood burning fireplace, a large flat screen tv, multiple sitting areas and be accessible from both their living room and their master bedroom. They also wanted to ensure that the project did not look like an afterthought on the back of their home. Working together we were able to achieve their goals and provide a space that is used year round for entertaining family and friends.
