Since then, the company owner Joseph Parker informed me in a phone conversation that Level One Design Studios, LLC never ordered the windows and that he “did not know” where my money was. As of the last week of September 2018 when I am writing this review, they are not responding to my emails or phone calls. They deposited my check and took my money; however they have not provided me with the product or service I paid for. I would not want to see anyone else victimised by this company so I certainly do not recommend them. **★★★★★ — Danielle, June 2017** > I am a window snob. I don't know what it is, but I love historic windows with blurred glass and different configurations (and definitely wooden sashes). Need to pick windows for new construction in Upstate SC.** *(in Building a Home)* We are building a custom home in Upstate SC. We are very confused on which windows to choose. We like black or bronze exterior and want nice quality, efficient and a good value. Not opposed to vinyl but everyone says dark painted vinyl will not hold up long term and scratches during install, etc. We like the look of Alum Clad but they are pricey and more than our window budget and then have to add cost to paint interior wood! Reviews I am reading there are a lot of negatives on all brands! We have 25 windows plus 12’x8’ slider. Approx Quotes so far: Silverline painted vinyl $10k, Jeldwen painted vinyl and Aluminum clad both approx $19k, Sierra pacific H3 Alum Clad $17.5k, Windsor Alum Clad $16k, Marvin Integrity $20k. Called for quote on Okna vinyl since it was highly recommended in some of these threads but afraid it may be $$$. Help!? A: I would highly recommend Windsor for your market. Windsor "beats" the competition when it comes to comps against the brands you mentioned. It is easy to sacrifice windows & doors for kitchen gadgetry... but when it comes to comfort and energy efficiency, it is best to invest (wisely) with your windows and doors. If you would like, I could provide a product comparison sheet for you that lists the major clad window brands side-by-side. Best of luck with your project! Patrick **Q: Experience with Windsor Pinnacle Windows** *(in Windows)* Hi, We're in the process of upgrading our kitchen and we'll be replacing two sliding doors and a slider window. We like wood clad windows for their combination of looks and durability. But we were taken aback with the cost of the Marvin Integrity line, so the salesperson recommended considering Windsor Pinnacle as an alternative. I would appreciate if anyone who has Windsor Pinnacle in their home - particularly if you have sliding doors - offer your experience with them. Thanks so much! A: Hi Andrew, We have placed many Windsor Pinnacle sliding doors and windows in Florida and have had great reviews by the homeowners both from aesthetic and operational viewpoints. Comparing the Integrity line to the Pinnacle series is apples and oranges due to the difference in materials. Also, if you happen to be choosing a dark exterior, I would advise aluminum clad for its durability (Windsor can also pre-finish the interior black as well). Good luck with your project! Patrick **Q: Installing New Construction Vinyl Windows (Okna) in a Buck?** *(in Windows)* Hi all, After months of research, I thought we finally had decided on our new construction vinyl windows. Across the board, Okna received the best reviews and ratings. We thought everything was set, and then our window dealer suggested we visit a new construction home on which they had installed Okna windows. Big mistake. I hate the way the windows look raised off the side of the house (i.e. if you ran your hand along the outside of the house, it would have to slide up the trim to touch the glass). We are building a farmhouse that I really want to look timeless. I would like the windows to look set in the set of the house with surrounding trim and a window sill. How can I use these windows and still get the effect of a traditional window sill? Our window dealer suggested two options: (1) Order them without a nailing fin and install them in a buck, which would give the look of a traditional wooden window. My question - can this be done with hardiplank? (2) Build up the trim around the window so that the window and nailing fin don't stick out. Any thoughts on how this might look? I'm very interested in other ideas. We would prefer to stick with vinyl windows for budget purposes. Here are two pictures: the first is of the installed Okna window, the second is of a wooden window that has the look we like. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!! The Okna windows: The look we want (with a window sill): A: Hi Shannon, To get the desired look, for the look you are trying to achieve, I would recommend the following based on our twelve years as a Windsor distributor/installer: 1\) Windsor Legend double-hung windows with exterior moulding factory applied. This will give you the set-back look you are desiring and still allows the Hardie planks to "dive in" to the side of the window trim. We completed numerous homes, that were a farmhouse architectural typology, in the South Carolina Low Country as well as Savannah, GA area with the Windsor Legend series . 2\) Windsor Next Dimension classic series with nail fin and no brickmould attached. You will still need to have the window recessed so it is set back, then have PVC exterior trim applied so the Hardie plank "dives in" to the window trim. If you are using 2 x 4 exterior walls, the builder will have to fur-out the inside of the window wall so the drywall and interior window trim can be applied appropriately. Hope this helps!
