> I contacted Ann for help with the quirky and dated ranch home we had recently purchased. She developed a master plan for the house, outlined how to prioritize the various phases and offered budget-friendly improvements we could implement immediately for a much-needed facelift. With her help we have made smart choices and invested wisely in our improvements to date. The contractors she recommended for us were professional and easy to work with. And finally Ann's aesthetic is spot-on and it was really nice to have a pro of her caliber guiding me in design decisions big and small. We have undertaken our improvements in small steps, but the impact has been big in making our home prettier and more comfortable. We wouldn’t have done it nearly as well without Ann’s expertise.

**Comment from Sellars Lathrop Architects, llc:**

> Sue,
> Thank you so much for your kind words. It was a pleasure to work with you and glad we could start you on your way to improvements however big or small. Based on the photos, it looks great so far!

> Ann & Howard were amazing. Can't recommend them enough! We had seen their work online and reached out to them. They toured several houses with us during our search and offered great insight into the potential and limitations of each. Once we had purchased a house they were instrumental in every aspect. From the design aspect, they had great ideas and listened to ours. From the project standpoint, they recommended general contractors and pool designers and both (John Williams and Amandio Da Silva) were amazing. During the project we were so glad Ann & Howard were involved. Whether it came down to choosing paint color or dealing with the town planning department they were there for us. We are so happy with the end result and even after the project is done they are there for any questions or whatever we need. Ann and Howard are the best.

> Thank you so much for the kind words!. We are so glad you found us and the stars were aligned (especially the second time..). The transformation to a more open plan, modern interior , with fabulous views of the new pool, was certainly the right solution. You were both great clients and we could not have done it without you.

> We hired Sellars Lathrop to develop plans for a significant renovation of our home. Ann and her team were not only stellar professionals, she used incredibly creative solutions to work around some challenging situations in our center hall colonial. She also led us to a phenomenal general contractor with whom she worked very well to ensure a smooth execution of a project that could have been incredibly daunting. All in all, I can't recommend their team enough.

**Comment from Sellars Lathrop Architects, llc:**

> Kelly,
> Thank you so much. Not only was it fun project, you contributed a great deal! Collaboration between architect , owner and contractor is always key to a successful outcome. Glad we, including Chard Builders, could help update your house to a more modern aesthetic while still keeping the charm of Colonial.

> Ann Sellars is outstanding!
> Great listener & collaborative to execute the design vision of transforming my house to a modern jewel.
> A fantastic transformation from an old house to a modern look while maintaining the overall integrity of the original structure.
> In addition, John Williams, builder form Harbor Property Development delivered & executed an outstanding product detailing perfectly every aspect of the project.
> Well done! I highly recommend both! Chris Cullen

**Comment from Sellars Lathrop Architects, llc:**

> Chris, Thanks so much. And, especially for making it fun every step of the way. You were a great collaborator, hands-on designer and decision maker, making our work and the contractor's job that much easier. Kudos to team work!

**★★★★★ — Jonathan Goodman, June 2018**

> We loved working with Ann & Howard. Ann has impeccable taste and style and the 2 of them transformed our house from drab to sophisticated on a contemporary upgrade remodel. We continue to get complements from friends, neighbors and strangers about how gorgeous the house and/or transformation. They really made this project come together. We couldn’t recommend them enough!

**Comment from Sellars Lathrop Architects, llc:**

> Thank you Jon and Deb!. It was great to see it all come together - and appreciate the opportunity to create the transformation!

**★★★★★ — UEL Leon, March 2018**

> Sellars Lathrop helped us with the renovation of roughly half of hour house. This involved enlarging windows, removing walls, including supporting walls being replaced with steel beams, removing attic space, reconfiguring room layout and guiding the selection of all interior finishes, from paint color and kitchen cabinets down to drawer pulls. They were good communicators with the contractor and guided us on that front as well. They are dedicated, hard-working, extremely knowledgeable and involved on both the engineering/mechanicals and aesthetics fronts. Perhaps most important, they consistently operate with the owner's interests at heart. We feel extremely fortunate to have worked with them.

**Comment from Sellars Lathrop Architects, llc:**

> Thank you Umut. We have really enjoyed working with you both!

**★★★★★ — Dave LoCascio / AW Hastings, Dec. 2017**

> I have enjoyed working with Ann and Howard on numerous projects over the years and have been happy to see them recognized for winning awards featuring the products I represent. Their commitment, integrity and definitive style resonates in the work they create, culminating in a great finished project be it a large elaborate contemporary residence or a simple renovation. I highly recommend them and continue to look forward to future collaborations on fenestration projects with them.
> They are great people to work with.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Bartlett, Aug. 2017**

> Great ideas, easy to work with, always available. Very knowledgeable on blending old with new. Good working relationship with our contractor, Bill Towle at Signature Remodeling. Excellent support team. We would highly recommend Ann!

> I came to Sellars Lathrop Architects utterly lost about where to begin to renovate our mid-century home in Westport. Each change I contemplated led to a cascading series of issues that seemed without end. Ann Lathrop listened, measured our home, and sketched out a few options to consider. As we figured out what to do, we chipped away at the stuff we needed to get done -- painting the exterior, upgrading exterior lights, and replacing the roof. I wanted to avoid upgrades that looked tacked on, out-of-place, or out-of-character of the architecture of our home. Consequently, I ran every decision by Ann. She recommended the paint color, brand, and type. (Who knew "flat" was a thing?). She selected the lights (Who knew onion lights were a thing?) She also suggested easy, relatively low-cost enhancements such adding grilles to the windows to give our home a transitional, cottage-y feel and replacing all the hollow core doors and hardware with something more substantive. With each and every choice, Ann's advice has elevated the look and feel of our home. Eventually, we settled upon a kitchen renovation, followed by renovating our two baths. For the kitchen, she deftly guided me away from selecting faux marble quartz (because it was pretending to be something it was not) to a quartz we absolutely love. She is the ultimate arbiter of taste. I trust her choices without hesitation. In fact, I have begun to fantasize about buying another home in need of renovation just so that I can continue to work with Sellars Lathrop.

**★★★★★ — Michele Knapp, June 2017**

> Having worked with Ann and Howard on numerous projects as a builder and on my home, I can wholeheartedly offer my my highest praise. With their amazing aesthetic and combined years of experience they truly provide a singular experience. Experimental yet pragmatic and a real understanding of what needs to get done to get a project done!

**★★★★★ — Kirsty McCarthy, Oct. 2016**

> We feel very fortunate to have found and been able to work with Howard and Ann on our Westport renovation. They were creative and yet practial. The end result is a house that we love both looking at and living in. We would highly recommend them.

**★★★★★ — Debi Berger, Oct. 2016**

> Both architects were fabulous to work with. They were both very engaged in the entire process. I am starting a second project with them now.
