Many people stick to the most basic possible wall colors, because it is so difficult to use something colorful, that really pops and yet really works with the entire scheme of things. Before we could get started, we had an electrical fire in our house on January 8, 2012. Thankfully, we lost no belongings of consequence, but we needed to move out for 6 1/2 months while our home was restored from top to bottom - new roof framing, new roof, all new electrical, some new walls, all new flooring, and new paint inside and out. The day following the fire, Nancy was able to come in, see past the destruction, and propose changes that have really improved the value and livability of our home. We were able to reconfigure one son's bedroom to enlarge it and make the space more usable, change an unpermitted 1/2 bath into a beautiful 3/4 bath, replace smoke damaged window coverings with gorgeous wood shutters, and transform our family room with hardwood floors and a wall of bookshelves and cabinets with a hidden storage room behind – her design. Nancy guided us every step of the way as we chose flooring, light fixtures, moldings, balustrades, paint, bathroom fixtures, and so much more. She accomplished the merger of my mother's pieces with our own by helping us choose beautiful new fabrics and a great upholsterer, and she guided picture placement and all those important extras. In addition to her great eye, we so appreciate Nancy's professional approach and efficiency. Every minute we spent together was time well spent. We are so thrilled with the outcome and know we will enjoy our "new" home for many years to come. It is hard to tell in the photos if this is from the shadows or actual glazing. This is a treatment we often do at our studio for designers... A: The cabinets were painted and then glazed. Thanks for asking. **Q: Source of the plate?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: This client lived in Hong Kong and the plate was something from her collection. I know that there are many beautiful plates like this one available LA's Chinatown and Little Tokyo.
