- [Riverhouse](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/riverhouse-pj-vj~221266)
  - Location: Coxsackie, NY
  - Photos: 56
  - Description: BWA was asked to design a modern residence on a 90-acre farm in upstate New York, one that would feel connected to the landscape, and reflect the latest in green technology. The two materials employed are sleek, but subtle: a natural wood skin for the interior, and a dark cement board for the exterior, with various points of visible contrast. The house is adjacent to the Hudson River, a spectacular view of which greets the visitor upon entering the house. Geothermal wells around the site, and phot…
- [New England Estate](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-england-estate-pj-vj~222196)
  - Location: Topsfield, MA
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: For the renovation and expansion of this 14,000 square foot turn-of-the-century New England home, BWA wanted to capture the spirit of the rich and dynamic architectural dialogue happening across the Atlantic during the period, notably in the work of Edwin Lutyens, and McKim, Mead & White. With a mixture of stone, cedar and slate, as well as a high degree of craftsmanship, the exterior of the house has touches of classic English and American style, while the interior is open and modern in its lay…
- [Brooklyn Artist Loft](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/brooklyn-artist-loft-pj-vj~221396)
  - Location: Brooklyn, NY

  - Description: This dramatic conversion of a light manufacturing warehouse to an artist live/work loft studio juxtaposes the gritty, industrial character of the building exterior with warm, expansive interior spaces flooded by natural light.
- [New England Lake House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-england-lake-house-pj-vj~222494)
  - Location: Exter, RI
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: To design this Rhode Island residence, BWA was selected after a competition process with four other firms. The property is situated on a 400 acre-plot, between a patch of forest, and the scenic James Pond, and the modern, single-story, fan-shaped house was designed with this landscape in mind. The shaded stone entry stands in complete contrast to the rear of the house, which is made largely of red cedar and glass, and curves along the shoreline, emphasizing the view and maximizing the natural li…
- [East Hampton Artist Studio](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/east-hampton-artist-studio-pj-vj~221431)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: This light-filled artist studio is conceived as a simple rectangular box which rests lightly on a 1.5 acre East Hampton site. Lifted off the ground by concrete piers, the building allows the natural contours of the land to continue below it. In some places, the siteʼs natural slope reveals the studioʼs cast-in-place concrete walls. The exterior walls, clad in a natural cedar siding, are punctuated by clerestory windows that wash the studioʼs large interior space with a diffused northern light. A…

  - Description: Drawing from its historic Greenwich Village context, this extensive reconstruction of a 1840s townhouse fuses past and present into a new, sophisticated 4,000 square foot home. The project is also the first townhouse in Greenwich Village to earn a LEED for Homes Gold rating. Striking a balance between historic and modern guides all aspects of design in this reinvigorated Greek Revival townhouse. Steel and glass windows line the basement and parlor floors’ South facades, drawing in natural light…

  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: This project, on the upper East side of Manhattan, involved the restoration of a 19th century townhouse to single family use. The stoop, removed in the 1920’s, was restored along with the brownstone façade of the building. The interior spaces were opened front to back as much as possible to allow light to filter through the building. An original oak paneled room at the rear of the parlor was restored and and interposed with a modern opaque glass and steel kitchen. The back edge of this room is a…

With this project, BWA was involved in both the architectural renovation as well as the interior decoration, an unusual opportunity to conceive of the space as a cohesive whole.
