There were problems with the base which took 2 months to have fixed. The wrong doors were ordered as the sales rep said the doors we wanted wouldn’t be a problem. But Kitchen Magic doesn’t even carry the specific type we wanted. The only person that we could get answers from was our customer service rep, Ashley. The process has been horribly frustrating, the communication is awful, and the final outcome of our cabinets is crap. We had our cabinets completed in September with mistakes. It's now January, and nothing has been fixed. We've had four different service appointments with people coming over to take pictures. They are here for about 5 minutes and then leave with promises that it will be taken care of. As I've said the communication is awful, I've left voicemails, emails, and nobody returns my calls or emails. Honestly, it's extremely disappointing and a shame to spend this much on a kitchen for garbage work. No communication between multiple contractors, a "project manager" who seemed to be completely out of touch, missed appointments by contractors, delays and excuses, confusion, mistakes, incomplete and in some cases shoddy work. A nightmare. > Communication was atrocious. Calls were often not returned. Contractors arrived and seemed unaware of what was expected of them, what the previous contractors had done, and were generally very specific about what they would NOT do. Some did not seem to know what they were doing at all! One contractor did not show up for his scheduled project date, and we never heard from him again. Problems went on for weeks. > There was a remote "project manager" in PA who really didn't have a clue as to what was happening with our kitchen. Not once were we ever treated like a valued customer, nor was any priority given. Except, of course during the initial phases when we booked and signed the contract. It is important to understand the difference between new cabinets and refacing and that was explained by all Team members. Everyone was honest and professional. Being in the Construction Industry provides me with a real expectation of timelines, schedules and work to be provided as well as knowing scope of work limitations. Refacing is not for everyone, but it is a great alternative and saves time. I also had them replace the old formica countertop with granite. The refacing work was done on time in 3 days. Completion of counter is harder to tighten the timeline. There will always be a delay for installation for the counters, this is normal. While the timeline on the granite availability and schedule to install is hard to overcome, between my availability and theirs the results are fantastic and within 1 month, I have a new kitchen. A full renovation with all new cabinets, fixing entire walls instead of sections of walls etc... would have taken me months. It is important to understand that in my situation, I did the demolition, site preparation work, wall fixing, painting, plumbing connections,and electrical connections and final OCD cleaning all while working full time at my engineering job. Also when the cabinet man came he brought his son and daughter, personally I love kids and have two young boys, but its not appropriate to bring them to work with me, as the cabinet man did. All the best Kitchen Magic **Q: Builder says 48” hood liner for 60” wolf range is ok** *(in Appliances)* Im building and have selected a wolf 60 inch dual fuel range with griddle. We are having a wooden hood custom made, but the 60 inch liner can’t be inserted because the clips can’t get past a certain point in the hood design because it curves. The builder and cabinet maker both say going to a 48” hood will fix this problem but I wasn’t convinced it was a good idea. The wooden hood will stay 60” but the liner will only be. 48” I’m not sure what will be in the empty space. (Pic is not mine but similar layout with windows, cabinets & tiled wall. Mine is still under construction.) I have seen some similar questions but the answers are very technical.
