They burn out after an hour and you constantly have to pour bottles of bioethanol, which are pricey. I regret not getting a gas fireplace. Within less than 3 months the paint has blistered and we have tried unsuccessfully to get a replacement. We have had NO success in dealing with this company. We have a Burner 1 as a centerpiece of our hotel lobby. It has been in place for about 9 years. Within the last year it started leaving this heavy gaze on the glass that does not come off. We have now destroyed 3 pieces of glass. We have also had to refinish the surround once and will have to do it again. Their customer service has been in contact with me but has not given any advice as to why this is happening now. After days of attempting to get someone from customer service to call me back I decided to buy the XL700. We spent a lot of money on purchasing this product and simply it is impossible to light and quite dangerous. After the enormous hassle in getting the product lit we were very unsatisfied with the size of the flames. I tried to send the product back but their customer service was yet again appalling and they refused to take it back even though I would have been prepared to pay a restocking fee.
