The fence will only be 3 feet in the front and 4 feet on the side since the house sits on a elevated pad and we don't want to block our view. There is a block wall at the sidewalk level that curves around the corner, so we think that the fence should curve also. Would like to use materials that will out live us. You can custom-fabricate steel fences for curves, but that usually comes with a 20-25 year warranty, max. **Q: Product to protect cedar fence** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am looking for a recommendation for a product to protect my new cedar fence, help it last and ideally, preserve the natural cedar colour. Needs to be something that is available at ordinary big-box stores in Canada (Home Depot, Rona etc). A: I would recommend either Sikkens or Cabot stains. They are both top-quality, long lasting products that can be rolled, brushed, or sprayed on. Just make sure you follow instructions.
