## Community Q&A

**Q: Cabinet hardware black or stainless?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Am thinking that black (matte finish) cabinet pulls would look nice with black granite countertop (going for a modern look). Light wood cabinet doors are flat "Euro" look; sink is the only stainless element (appliances are white; stovetop surface is black). Kitchen is pretty small. Any thoughts?

A: Stainless would be better I think.

**Q: Redoing exterior of 1880's farmhouse - WWYD?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm looking to redo the exterior of our mountain home. The home was originally built in the 1880's, and desperately needs some TLC. We've only been in it a year and would like to get started on renovating. What colors would you use? We are using siding, because are on a budget and it is our get-away place. Also, we are replacing the roof with charcoal black metal roofing. I am shying away from white (as much as I would love white) because we are under trees and moss and dirt will show easily. Thanks for your thoughts!

This thread has crossed my mind when I saw the red exterior a couple of comments above. Although I'm not pretty sure will the black roof match the red exterior :)

**Q: Need help for my kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need help with colour of cabinets and countertops. Floor is staying but everything else can change.

A: Why not some venge color for the cabinets and steel appliances instead of the old ones? Does this room have an extension to the living room? You can consider something like a bar or island as I can see you have a lot of free space. Granite countertops won't be a bad idea either.

**Q: Seeking feedback on proposed window style.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are replacing the upper windows to be followed by the lower. Attached are some ideas we have been given. Your feedback on the four options would be appreciated. Thank you.

A: I think the fourth design (\#4) suits the best. Although other alternatives can be considered.

**Q: Which way to place rug?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Do I get the rug all the way to the TV long side parallel to windows, or just in from of couch, long side centered to couch?

Pls ignore the mess and provisional furniture. Darker pieces are on their way.

A: In front of the fireplace (long side to the fire place stretching side from side).

**Q: Would you paint your house Red?** *(in Before & After)*

Would you paint your house Red? We painted this Seattle home in 1997 and returned to paint in 2013. Colors C2 Curtain Call and C2 Coconut

A: You've picked the perfect shade! Much better than the old paint job!
