We replaced a peninsula with a large island, and reconfigured the appliances. Our designer, Burak did an amazing job in creating a new kitchen with a completely different layout. He has a lot of experience and had a great feel for what would work for our kitchen. Burak was always very responsive when we reached out to him with questions or changes/additions. Our Project Manager, Aykut would stop by just about every day to check on progress and update us as to the next steps. Once we were placed on the schedule, we were assigned a dedicated construction team. Miguel and his crew did a fantastic job with putting all of the plans together - he came up with creative solutions to several issues we encountered along the way. At the end of each day, they cleaned up, Miguel summarized what they did and were planning on doing the following day and when they would arrive the next morning. Once they started the project, they worked every day without fail and it took about 6 weeks from start to finish - we were extremely happy with this timeline. We wanted to go from a tub with shower curtain to walk in shower and basically update the entire bathroom. After getting quotes from two other companies and hearing the “you can only get this price today” pitch a few too many times, I saw an advertisement in the local newspaper and gave the Leesburg location for VA Kitchen and Bath a call. After speaking with Akin (Senior Designer), I was feeling great. My wife and I went into the design center the next day and we had our entire remodel picked out within an hour. Akin was extremely helpful and extremely transparent with pricing. The price was fair and stable and he put us under no pressure to sign on the spot. We signed a contract and within a few weeks I was introduced to a very nice project manager, Emin, and lead technician Johnny as the project got started. Johnny and his crew were always very courteous and kind and they did a really fantastic job cleaning up each day after the work day ended. There were 3 “must haves” in our remodel and we were told that they will do all three. When the project started, it turned out that 2 were no longer happening. One was due to VKB placing the wrong ordering and us not finding out until it was too late, and the second one was due to them not reviewing the floor plan prior to project start. The 3rd “must have” was at jeopardy as well but, at that point it was a deal breaker for us and they managed to get it done. > 3\. We gave feedback throughout the construction that was quickly acted on. If something needed to be changed or adjusted, then it was done. We really appreciated the professionalism of the entire crew. The design was different than what I had in my head and I liked it even more! We asked about adding a few things and he quickly made suggestions and changed the design with us right then. We signed up that day. Javier's crew started in mid-July, and we were amazed at how efficient and thorough they were. Of course it was very dusty! But they swept and cleaned at the end of every shift, so I imagine it was much better than what could have been. When we found some surprises in the wall, Kemal and his team had some great suggestions to keep costs down and resolve the issues. There were many days where Javier and his crew were staying past 6 pm, so I know they were working overtime to keep the schedule, which was greatly appreciated. Anything I asked for, change-wise, was honored. I didn't care for a couple of tiles in a mosaic, so Javier dug them out and swapped them with two other pieces. I asked to add some trim to the top of the bookcase and he had it done that day. I think he did a nice job with installation and the sealing, but his finish work is not up to the rest of the team's quality. The owner Kemal Boyraz reassured us that the project would go smoothly and he and his team would assist us. Sertac was our project manager and Andy was our crew leader. Any concerns we had we brought to the attention of Sertac and were quickly addressed and relayed to Andy. The powder room mirror we selected turned out to be too large and to order the smaller mirror would have taken two weeks to get. Andy ran out to a few different suppliers to find it in stock. It was our best decision. We went to Virginia Kitchen and Bath (VKB) showroom and met with Kemal Boyraz (owner). Kemal was extremely pleasant and sat down with us while we explained our ideas and gave him a very amateur drawing of what we wanted. He came out to the house, did an on-site survey and within a week provided us with a colored CAD drawing and our ideas were really visualized. VKB then provided us with a detailed project plan and the scope of work included eliminating a wall, adding a new entrance to the kitchen, moving gas lines, water lines and electrical lines, new cabinets, drywall work, quartz countertops, mosaic backsplash, recessed lighting, and under-cabinet lighting. Kemal took every inch of space and utilized it giving us exactly what > we wanted. In addition, VKB was the only company we interviewed that did not charge additional or make us get our own construction permits; they took care of everything, We signed a proposal on 10/31/15 but could not begin construction until January 4, 2016. We were very pleased with the proposal estimate (actually lower than any other remodeling company we interviewed) and at the time of contract signing we gave VKB our first installment and did not make another payment till work began. Before the work began Kemal came back to the house, re-measured and introduced us to the Project Manager, Martese Thomas. On Jan 4th, as promised, a VKB construction crew (Edison and Edgar) showed up as promised, explained what they were going to do, prepped by putting up plastic barriers to eliminate construction dust, drop cloths, etc. By the end of the day our kitchen was gutted. Every phase of our project was done professionally. Edison ensured installation was done down to every detail and > explained to us any revisions/changes. Martese came to the house daily and if we had questions or concerns he addressed them and Kemal was more than happy to accommodate our needs. There was minimal inconvenience and the crew even worked on weekends to stay within the 4 week schedule. We did have one issue, however. Because our house was built in the 60’s, the kitchen floor had shifted and was not level. We installed Cortex luxury vinyl planking and, unfortunately the floor was not leveled correctly before the vinyl was installed. We know Edison was excellent at most of the construction needs, however, since this product was relatively new and not installed correctly we began seeing gaps in the wood. Being the professionals they are, Kemal came out one evening with a flooring expert and they ultimately took care of the issue. It did take longer to complete than we wanted but it was mostly due to delay in product. Just prior to the start date, we decided it would be cost-effective to buy a slab of granite that could be used for both the bathroom and to replace the kitchen countertop as well. Because we had also planned to install hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen and much of our main floor, we asked VKB to provide a quote on that as well. They offered install the flooring underneath the existing kitchen cabinets (something that other flooring companies seldom offer) to ensure that our dishwasher could be easily replaced in the future. Amazingly enough, they replaced several rooms of flooring and finished the kitchen and bath renovations in about the same period of time they had proposed for the bath alone (a little more than 2 weeks). In the end, we were very pleased with everything. They were also attentive in returning after the job was complete to make some minor adjustments.
