You may need to enlarge the window & add a window in Bedroom 2&3 to meet egress codes and probably add a window to the dining room to make up for lost natural light. Without being sure of the level of amenity you want in the new kitchen, the size alone tells me you'll be over 25k for cabinets and appliances alone. Thanks, -frank **Q: Help i'm painting my living room** *(in Paint)* Help i'm painting my living room in Sherwin Williams Maison Blanche and the trim in BM White Dove, but I just don't know what color to paint the ceiling. A: Hi olive pearl, This is a very common question. If you're not dead-set on having a colored ceiling, flat white, 'decorator's white,' is a great ceiling paint. Flat paints spread light from your fixtures more evenly allowing the semi-gloss trim paint to better reflect light down the wall. Hope that helps, -frank **Q: Need help with exterior remodel!!** *(in Remodeling)* We’ve been working so hard to remodel our home and just as we are finishing up the interior renovations, storm damage has given us an opportunity to refresh the outside too! We are really torn on the color of our new siding and can use some outside opinions. Our house is originally white , sits higher than others on the street , and gets a ton of sun on one side. We also have an asphalt u-shape drive in front. After many Pinterest searches, samples and drives looking at other houses for inspiration we surrendered to white again thinking maybe the house is just meant to the “White House on the hill”. But we are having second thoughts, maybe we will regret not going for a change. With the sun lighting up half the house a lot of colors scared me away for fear or funky undertones, granite grey looked purplish etc. our roof is landmark weathered wood , and that’s on already, We are using certainteed restoration classic colonial white for siding. The other color we we are considering is slate. Total opposites yet we feel both give the neutral vibe we want without the risky undertones. We are also doing shake on the left side. I’ve attached pictures ...any help, even new ideas would be so appreciated. So you're house has an symmetry which gives it some cool character and opportunity. Usually a solid, single color makes a great statement. Here you have enough push & pull of the facade that a 2-color option might give it that missing flair you're looking for. It would be interesting to play with a one color on the 2-story section and the, 'wings,' being another. Another option that makes sense it the 2-story section and entry door section being the same color and letting the other, 'wing,' fade away visually. Either way, with what looks like a timeless taste in simple palettes - a bright entry door of either yellow or red would really pop and make the front look great. N, The best person to answer your question is...... you! First, decide what you want out of the space - entertaining, quiet reading, do you need some home office space there? Next, think on the vibe - is it formal, fun, comfy? Then think on your personal style - chic? traditional? Edgy? From there you can really start putting the space together. In regards to colors; your wood tones are pretty flexible. You could keep bigger pieces of furniture in lighter solid shades and use patterns & deep tones on pillows, rugs etc. to make it all really pop. I would ideally like to wall-mount the TV on said wall, but husband is concerned that the studs would be too far from the drywall due to the furring (to locate and to drill securely into). Is this truly the case? If so, is there any way around it? A: Hello jaycie14, Typically Drywall is mounted on Studs - and, 'furring,' is another word for, 'studs,' in non-structural or build-out locations like the one your describing. It sounds like there was a wall, you put an electric fireplace in front, and to make a flush/modern condition they framed out around the fireplace and hung drywall.
