For more than 20 years award-winning decorative painter Edward J Malnak has provided absolutely creative solutions for homes of distinction. He delivers the project to clients on time, on budget and always exceeds expectations. "I believe the decoration of a room should focus attention on the people using the space", he says.

He consciously works alongside designers and homeowners to collaborate on the creation of beautiful living spaces. He uses timeless wall finishes such as Strie', Stipple, and Overbrush and Stripes. These treatments are not subject to the 'whimsy' of the moment. Painted woods and marbles typically can solve problems associated with architecture or design when compared to utilizing the real materials.

I would love to listen to your ideas. Share with you the possibilities. Ultimately, I want to create a beautifully decorated living space.

> I have worked with Ward on several projects, and he has always gone above and beyond my expectations. He is a true artist in his technique and his understanding of the subtleties required. His work is what adds that special element to create memorable interiors. His skill, reliability, and work ethic are what I rely on to add the ultimate touch to my design projects.

> Our local church decided to restore the wood finish to the chancel arch that had been painted over in the 1950's. The original finish was discovered to be a vintage faux bois finish done in 1883. Stripping the paint turned out not to be an option, and so a faux wood grain finish was planned. Ward visited the site to learn our needs and show examples of similar work, and determine what design would complement the other interior woodwork.. His estimate was reasonable and we scheduled the work. He started and finished the work exactly according to schedule, and even provided some extra work. We had an option in the contract to remove some panels in the upper corners to hopefully reveal the original lattice motif woodwork. We discovered it had been removed in the 1950's. I quickly fabricated new pieces and Ward installed them, without missing a beat on the schedule. The workmanship is high quality, and the restoration was finished in a professional manner. The results are outstanding and much appreciated by the members of the church.

> Ward\* has done numerous installations for us through the years. An exterior faux stone driveway was done at a previous residence. And finishes such as a venetian plaster accent wall, a faux brick wall and a free floating accent wall (pictured in his online portfolio) are at our present home.
> He has a wonderful sense of design and color, as well as an impeccable attention to detail. His finished work is just beautiful.
>
> \* note: full disclosure, I am a relative, however have paid full price for all installations

**Comment from Painted Interiors:**

> Ward created a pearlescent plaster finish for the wall in my master bath. Beautiful! No longer just a bath but now a spa I look forward to each day.
> He also turned a plain pine desk into mahogany showpiece with the burls in lovely detail.
>
> Being so pleased with Ward's work I had him back to paint and glaze my kitchen cabinets. Again, beautiful. The 'cherry' on top was his idea to color the glass transome above the sink, brilliant!

**Comment from Painted Interiors:**

> Thank you for your review.
> I am so very glad the master bath is a place for you and Jory to wash away the day...:)

> I have known Ward for about 2 years now. I am a Realtor and have worked with Ward on several occasions. He is not a painter... He is a true artist. His attention to detail is second to none. I have built a great relationship with him that I am sure it will continue for many more years to come.

> I have personally have hired and worked with Painted Interiors over the past many years. If you are looking for a honest hard working company to work with i would highly recommend Painted Interiors. The owner and staff have great knowledge of all painting problems that may occur, they take time to solve the problem and come up with beautiful ideas for your finished product. They are neat, kind and respectful to the owners of the home and leave the home cleaner than when they started... their price quotes were extremely fair.... A+ would recommend

## Community Q&A

**Q: What color should I paint walls?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Have two overstuffed love seats with yellow background chintz fabric. (Seat covered for dogs) Am moving & have to decide on what color to put on walls. The room is 20 x 11 with four windows. Your advice is appreciated

A: Silvery, sage green. :)

**Q: Need help with complementing granite** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have what seems to be rosa porrino granite for my kitchen counter. The house came with it. Is this pinkish granite out of style? I would like to keep it to save money but want to make the kitchen look updated. What color should I use for cabinets and backsplash that make it look better?

A: Can you post pictures of the kitchen and the cabinets? this will help form an opinion

**Q: Need advice for entryway** *(in Design Dilemma)*

What thoughts do you have on the area infront of the stairs? Bench and picture? would like to brighten things up and mix in some modern pieces.

A: Radiator cover is fine as is. Bench under the stairs, perfect, Bench should be simple frame, fabric covered top, The fabric can incorporate many colors. find anything you like.
Would avoid modern, jagged pattern (chevron etc).
My feeling is, the woodwork is enough of a statement. Cheers!

**Q: Kitchen Paint Help** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Need help with the wall color for a kitchen, great room, café combination. I would much appreciate the help as I am finding the light cabinets with the Black counter tops tough.

A: The Alabaster wall color seems to be a great choice. Consider monochromatic for the entire space. Ceilings wall and mouldings in the Alabaster white. To create movement the finish of each surface should be different ie ceilings flat, walls satin and mouldings high gloss. The counter will then anchor the entire space. And you will have many options for embellishment. cheers!

**Q: Need help picking out a backsplash for a wet bar.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

There is a lot of color variation in the counter top, which is making it difficult to pick out a backsplash.

A: Just read this...LOL. Thanks!
