**Q: Help with wall color, furniture placement, and design in CT sunroom** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Helping a friend with her new house!  There is a great 15x13 sunroom space that is bright with lots of Windows.  It is the back entry to the house and 
is used by children so needs to be multi purpose. Can you please help us make it more functional for shoes/backpacks, computer space and cozy spot to curl up in.  Love color like yellow, orange, green.  Thanks!

A: One option to increase the room's storage capability is to get a corner storage bench right inside the entry such as this unit:

As for seating, it would be nice to add a sectional sofa in the corner where the chair currently sits so that multiple people can enjoy the space.  
Additionally, adding a large sisal rug would work to warm the room up without compromising it's functionality. 
The computer area seems to work well where it currently sits!

**Q: So lost! Kitchen redo and soffit problem SOOOOOOO frustrated.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am feeling lost, every kitchen showroom I have gone to (there have been many) do not want to answer my basic question of how to work cabinets around the soffit. Leaving the soffit there not removing it. Not changing anything but the cabinets/counters.
They all say send a picture, I send a picture and they want to know my budget, wall sizes and still do not answer the question. So Houzz folks if you put in new cabinets/counters without changing anything else in my kitchen how would you lay the cabinets?
I am beginning to feel that they all don't want to touch it unless they are going to be the one doing the job., in my head whoever comes up with ideas will do the job. Its like they can't figure it out without putting everything in their 2020 software.

A: You might want to consider removing the upper cabinets altogether and instead doing a few rows of open shelves. This will open up the kitchen and solve the awkward soffit issue. And as Darzy mentioned, it's a great idea to paint your cabinets if you're planning to change up the look and have your kitchen look a little more sleek.

**Q: Keep the divider walls or no?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm doing a ton of projects in my house right now. Do I keep these walls that are dividing the hall from the living room and kitchen? I have started to tear them down, and backed out, a couple times. Tell me they need to go. (Or stay) I would be tearing out all of it. The chalkboard and sconce walls are the other side to the first pics shown. The wall with the small entry table and mirror would also go. 

You can see that I'm making use of the wall space, but I know it feels outdated, having everything separated off. 

Another option is simply taking off the top of the door ways and extending them to the ceiling. 

Help! Thanks in advance. 

FYI: I've been advised that these are not load bearing walls, so I have the go ahead if I want them out.

A: 100% take them out. You'll be shocked at the difference in how much visual space you open up. You'll be able to fit more usable living space with the same square footage, and probably increase the value of your home while doing it - an open floor plan is what many prospective homeowners look for these days. Another benefit of taking down the wall would be to increase the natural light throughout your home - always a plus!!

**Q: Need help choosing floor color!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Here are 2 stock pictures of the floor we are considering for our downstairs. I like the darker color, but we don't get a lot of natural light in the back of our home and I'm worried it will be too dark. Also, for resale value, is one of the finishes better? (we have white kitchen cabinets if that helps)

A: I agree with elainesteinke. The Windridge Mocha Hickory has much more warmth and offers contast without being too stark. If you go too dark, scratches and dust shows more easily and you also run the risk of creating the illusion of a smaller space.

**Q: Ideas for a small entry way and blank wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a small 8'x6' entry way and I was contemplating on a floating shelf beneath the round mirror or a console. Id appreciate any and all ideas? thank you.  ohh, forgot to ask, any ideas for the blank wall across? thank you

Another way to warm up the entry is to put a runner down the hallway so visitors have a visual path to the rest of the home

**Q: Mosaic choice?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I've been trying to find the perfect mosaic for the accent strip in our shower as well as for up the wall behind our dark grey vanity (which is in an alcove).

I really want a clean crisp look. 

The tile for the floor and the shower wall is in the photo attached. 

The designer at the tile shop suggested I do the Verona blend (on the right) as a contrast but I feel more inclined to go for the brighter grey and white Milas Pearl tile on the left. 

Thoughts?

A: I agree with Diane and Kris. The one on the left is an overall more modern look. The right could end up looking dirty if everything else is bright.
