Growing up in the Jefferson country of Charlottesville, Virginia and spending summers in the coastal towns of New England, Stephen's interest in architecture developed at an early age. Extensive travels through Europe and Asia broadened his inspiration for design and aesthetic understanding.
Stephen attended the University of California at Berkeley where he received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1986, followed by a Masters of Architecture in 1990. Stephen spent several years working for various prominent Bay Area firms where he gained experience in residential and commercial design, resort and hospitality design, and urban planning. Stephen has also been involved in multiple residential development projects gaining first hand experience with project management, scheduling and cost control.
Stephen resides in Marin County, California, with his wife and two children. He spends his free time with his family enjoying outdoor pursuits such as cycling, hiking, skiing, surfing and windsurfing.
