> Anne worked us into her busy schedule quickly when we needed her expertise to make decisions on building our new home. She offered us many tips about lighting, paint selections and directed us to specific people in the world of furniture.

**★★★★★ — Diane, April 2017**

> We are currently in the process of building a new home and believed that it was a prudent move to hire a designer prevent us from possibly making a costly mistake. Honestly, a two hour consult is much more affordable than purchasing a nonrefundable lighting fixture. SO, After searching for designers on Houzz, we decided to try DeCocco Design for an initial design consult. We liked her use of finish trim in her photos and thought she would be able to understand what look we are going for in a new build and provide helpful advice. We were primarily concerned that our choices of color, furniture, wood trims... may not transition well from room to room. Anne offered some great advice and suggestions that will truly enhance the look of the home, as well as separate it from others. As other reviewers have written, Anne comes fully prepared and stays on point. Our builder also attended the initial consult and we all fully appreciated her candor and honesty on some design elements. Our consult concluded and within a very short amount of time she followed up with a project website and notes for our information. We are so glad that we met Anne and decided to spend the time and money for this consult. We are very comfortable to recommend Anne as your design consultant. You won't be disappointed.

> I asked Anne to help me design the interior of my new townhome. I needed help figuring out where to place the furniture, paint colors, tile choices, curtains, etc., and perhaps most important, ensuring that all the choices worked together. We scheduled a two hour appointment, but before even meeting, Anne "picked my brain" regarding what I wanted? How would I describe (key words) what I wanted the finished product to be? Could I send her pictures of colors, furniture, or rooms that I liked? This allowed her to be prepared for our meeting. And sure enough, she came prepared and before we were done we had a pretty specific plan worked out on how to proceed. But wait, there's more! Anne then followed up by emailing me a visual design board of everything we had talked about. Furniture placement, paint colors, fabric choices - everything. Anne also made herself available during the following weeks to answer my questions and to offer additional advice. I could not be more happy with Anne and the services she provided. She is knowledgeable, creative, accessible, and just a great resource. I would recommend her without hesitation.

> We hired Anne of DeCocco Design several years ago to unify the look of our new construction home - a 3 story, all the bells and whistles beauty on a small lot in Morrisville just outside RTP.
>
> We loved her so much, we asked her back when we bought our new "old" home - a 1977 Ranch on 6+ acres in North Raleigh.
>
> Anne's taste is flawless and the tips she exudes while she is just reviewing your space are worth the price of admission alone. We'll be following her design plan to bring this cozy ranch out of the 70s - to make it a forever home we can't wait to come home to each day.

> I was completely confused on what I wanted my bedroom to feel like. A large cathedral ceiling room with 4 Windows. I reached out to DeCocco designs since they did such a great job a few years back in my living room & dining room. Anne DeCocco was extremely knowledgeable and was able to narrow down the look by showing me various looks until I said yes! that is the look and feel I want. She provided plenty of fabrics to choose from without overwhelming me. Her expertise combined just the right fabrics for the curtains/shams & throw pillows and great rods. The workmanship is superb-top of the line for sure.I am so happy with the results every time I walk in the room I smile and say I LOVE IT! The process from start to finish was made so easy due to Anne's quick responses and knowledge, a must for me with a busy work schedule.

**★★★★★ — Laura Keltie, Dec. 2015**

> The two-hour consultation with Anne was extremely useful in planning an update of our tired family room. I appreciate the way she took the time to understand my style and my goals prior to our meeting. During the consultation, she helped me identify what was working and worth keeping, and then presented with me with lots of great options for freshening and updating the room. I especially like the way she steered me toward good, timeless design rather than merely whatever might be trendy at the moment. I had a pretty good vision of what I wanted in the room, but my meeting with Anne was invaluable in refining my ideas, giving me the confidence to implement them, and guiding me to helpful resources. Highly recommended!

> I spent about one year trying to update my bedroom decor. Just couldn't get it done. Then I hired Anne DeCocco and she listened to what I was trying to accomplish. We made such fast progress and now I have the perfect, relaxing bedroom I always imagined. I was afraid of color, but I now have beautiful wall color (quietude by SW) and it is not scary at all! The drapes are wonderful and really complete the look. I still need some art work, but in the meantime I'm enjoying my little sanctuary! Thanks, Anne. You were great to work with.

**★★★★★ — Jacqueline Eddy, Dec. 2015**

> We loved working with Anne on our new decor for our living room and bonus room. Anne was able to help us update our rooms while pulling colors and themes from existing pieces. The overall outcome is stunning and exactly what we were looking for. Anne assisted with shopping for furniture pieces, fabric choices, and vendor coordination. Anne was a pleasure to work with and always met every challenge with professionalism and a smile. Her knowledge of local vendors was very useful during this process. We highly recommend DeCocco Design and will use Anne again in the future.

> Anne DeCocco is a gem! From the beginning of our work with her, Anne showed that she is creative, thoughtful, a fantastic listener, and an excellent project manager. We hired Anne initially to do a consultation on our living room and dining room. Both spaces were under-utilized and had become a catch-all for odds and ends. She asked key questions and translated our answers into a creative concept that completely reflected our needs and personality. We then hired her to implement the concept, and she knocked it out of the park! The space was transformed--built-ins, new electrical, paint, fixtures, furniture, rugs, drapes--she pulled together a space that we use all the time and simply LOVE. She did it all while being conscious of our budget constraints, and she made the process such FUN that I hated to see our project end. I give Anne five stars--and would give her more if I could!

**★★★★★ — wshuttle, Dec. 2015**

> Anne DeCocco was awesome to work with on our project! I was initially hesitant to undertake this project (to redesign two rooms in our home) mainly because I was concerned about how much time it would take my wife and me to pick out colors, fabrics, lighting fixtures, furniture, accessories, etc. But Anne made it easy--she came over to our home, listened well to what we wanted our spaces to represent and feel like, asked some key questions, and quickly came back with a targeted set of options for each of these items that were all great choices. This made our decision process much easier, quicker, and much more fun. Plus she saved my favorite sofa with some rework and reused some of our other existing furniture in creative ways. The rooms Anne helped us with are now our favorite rooms in our home!

**★★★★★ — gallants0a, May 2015**

> Anne’s 2-hour consultation was extremely helpful. After our meeting, she followed up with floor plans and digital boards of her recommendations. I've used both repeatedly - saving lots of time and money. I highly recommend her services.

**★★★★★ — Felicia Gressette, April 2015**

> I thoroughly enjoyed my two-hour consultation with Anne. She asked for insight into our style and goals before the visit, looked at my Houzz and Pinterest boards to see what I am drawn to, and came prepared to make the most of our time together. She offered great ideas for our projects and the day after, she sent a customized resource list to help us get started. I appreciated her interest in learning about our wishes, her creative energy and her design insights and specific suggestions about finishes, textures, colors and how to make the most of our spaces. I'd happily call upon her again.

Hanging window treatments high makes those ceilings appear to magically rise! As for the wonderful trees--their lovely shade creates a low light atmosphere in several of the rooms. We resolved that issue by selecting fabrics with a little shine and a lot of interest. To see more photos of this project, please visit m…

Whether it comes from a world renown gallery or from your favorite second grade often makes no difference. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Ideas for Window Treatments** *(in Windows)*

Need to get some window treatments up for our bay windows. Leaning towards roman shades, but new to this and always need some inspiration and ideas! I’ll attach pictures of the window seat cushion pattern and couch pillows to show color and design. Thank you!

A: That's a beautiful bay! Roman shades (stationary ones--so really they're valances) would be great. If you don't really feel the need for fabric in every window, you have wall space on either side of the bay to hang nice, full drapery panels. Hang them as high as you can, on short rods.

**Q: Large empty wall need decor ideas** *(in Home Decorating)*

Just had custom built in shelves installed and now need help decorating the large empty wall. (Shelves are empty bc we just finished painting). Would love some suggestions and even some picture inspirations! Thank you!

A: I love the suggestions of statement sized horizontal art. You don't need to fill the wall, just make it interesting. A suggestion for your fabulous new built-ins: if you can move those shelves around so they're at different heights. Not every shelf needs to be used. That way you can put something really tall in one of them.

**Q: Dining Room Help!** *(in Home Decorating)*

Refreshing my dining room space and need help bringing everything together. I am getting a new table with benches on the side and armchairs on each end. I'm not married to the Cuba poster so it could stay or go. I'm looking for table lamps to go on either side of the credenza and a new light fixture and maybe some accessories and artwork? I just tend to get paralyzed with how to bring a room "together".

A: I agree about benches--don't do it. I agree with a new chandie. I don't like those little shelves. Think big and chunky with your proportions. Could you put a pretty vented cover over the rad and get it to the same height as the console? Simple, lined drapery panels flanking the windows, hung very high would polish the space up quickly.

**Q: Missing Something ??? Experts please help!!!** *(in Home Decorating)*

Looking for feedback from a decorator point of view. Am i missing something in this area? or I could call it complete. Experts please advise if I should change something?

A: I agree with so much that's been said! Lovely room--well done. Fluff up those curtains, raise the chandie up a bit (it could have been larger, but that's okay) and I'd ditch the matching pillows. If the chairs need pillows, I'd use a lumbar shape and each one would have a different personality. Just saw a website - www.society6.com mentioned somewhere. Great pillows at low prices. That's all I would do. Then start pouring that wine!

**Q: Need help with drapery color/pattern/material** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hi! I’ve been stuck trying to select drapery panels for my living room for months! We have plantation shutters but the room needs texture and I think drapery would look great. I love the look of white drapery against white walls with a black rod. I tried it and it just looked really blah and somewhat cheap (See Photo). the drapes I bought are cotton from pottery barn. Should I have purchased the linen for 2x the price? Or do I need a color and pattern here... what would you do here? Thank you in advance!!!

A: The oatmeal drapes are a great improvement! You could glue some wide tape trim down the leading edge of each drapery panel--about 2" from the edge. Use glue that's specifically for fabric or double sided, iron on adhesive. Even 2 rows (spaced about an inch apart) of grosgrain ribbon in a coordinating color would give a little boost to the curtains. A very affordable solution.

**Q: Living room makeover stumped on completion** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This living room had been dark, red walls, no ceiling lights, old flowered furniture. Now we've refinished the floors, added recessed lights, painted walls and ceiling, bought sectional sofa, ottoman, TV and console. Went with navy drapes and accent pillows. Simple greys in rug... but, so afraid of cluttering walls as I usually do! Need wallhanging ideas AND advice on what to do in far corner behind sofa... feel I need something at a different height to offset all the 'level' furniture. Need another lamp or two. Maybe bench seat under front window? Colors not really showing well due to blinding snow outside today! Thank you!

A: You're doing a great job! I love the suggestion of an arc lamp. That would bring the eye to another level, in a functional wall. The only thing I don't like about arc lamps is that they usually have a foot switch, which is kind of inconvenient. You need something on that wall. Don't muck it up with lots of little shelves and small pictures. Get creative--it's a long wall. My first thought is to paint a wide stripe (10?")of a soft coordinating color maybe 12" down from the ceiling. Now, in the space below that, think of an art installation idea that you would enjoy seeing. Once I installed a long piece of copper tubing (found at the hardware store in the plumbing section), using small brackets every 3-4.' From that copper tube, I hung black chain (although stainless cable would look great, too) at varying lengths. Using hooks, I hung large unframed artwork from those chains. It filled a long wall nicely, but did not look cluttered.
