Thank you! A: Adding a thick moulding would not only help in hiding this but would also enhance the look of your cabinetry. I would box in and paint around to further mask it. **Q: Furniture arrangement ideas for 'sitting room' next to living room** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are finishing up a light remodel on a home we just purchased. We added a wall to break down an 80' long run that was there before. The downside to doing that was it left us with a new living room next to a small sitting area. We are trying to figure out what furniture we should put in this sitting area to make it feel natural and give walking space. It sits surrounded by the dining/entry, a fireplace, the kitchen and the new living. It's really in the middle. I do not want another couch because that will feel like a furniture store! We are also not tied to the four chairs in the room now. A: Moving the furniture into more of a boxy space plan and closer to the fire place and built in shelves will establish the space more and take away the feeling that the room is floating. **Q: What can I do to make this ceiling look better** *(in Design Dilemma)* I feel like the ceiling has too much of a yellowish color to it, and the beam is too dark and ugly. What could I do to make it look better without going through too much trouble, anything? I feel like the pictures make it look better than it actually does A: Painting the beam(s) would definitely be a step in the right direction. I nice shade of white with a cooler muted color on the wall may help detract from the yellow look. Also some changes with your lighting scheme could help. Good luck **Q: Help! We like the look of the pindot and other simple patterns, but we just aren't sure how it would look throughout an entire house (bedrooms, halls and great room). Any ideas, suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated! Our house style is craftsman, with hardwood in the kitchen, entry and nook and tile in bathrooms. We have a cat and one child. A: My suggestion would be to build your pantry to look more like a piece of furniture, or better yet, find a piece of furniture that you love that would work in both form and function. That way you would be investing your $ in something that you could take with you. Either way you will have something that will add some style and keep everything from looking too "vanilla". You could use whatever color you wished then. **Q: I am buying this house with this awkward bedroom. It has a platform in the Master Bedroom. What can I do to make this platform floor work? A: It's hard to tell the total layout of the room by just a photo but I would suggest converting the raised area to a cozy sitting room if the rest of the space (the lower level) allows room for your bedroom furnishings.
