> Terrible Fit and Finish: Like Something Out of an East German Housing Block // Pics
>
> We bought 7 large sliding doors, plus 3 windows, from Marvin's Elevate collection (formerly Integrity) in June 2025 for our sunroom. Installation occurred several months later.
>
> The terrible fit and finish on all 7 sliding doors is unacceptable.
>
> There are huge gaps where the trim pieces meet due to the sliding doors being manufactured with stocks of two different thicknesses.
>
> This manufacturing process makes it impossible to create a frame with a clean, flush edge.
>
> I can't understand how a process that consistently produces a defective product was approved.
>
> It is not an installation issue.
>
> I've been trying to get this resolved since the job was completed by first contacting the installer, then the Marvin showroom in Boston and everyone involved.
>
> A Marvin rep inspected the product and he agreed that fit and finish is unacceptable.
>
> He re-measured the sliding doors and ordered replacement stock, only to receive the same defective product.
>
> I've shared my photos and spoke with multiple people at Marvin. I've left multiple messages with the inside care agent in charge of my case. She has not responded to my calls or email.
>
> At this point, I would never buy a Marvin product again.

**★ — Archway Contracting, March 2023**

> I recently completed a project that featured about $20,000 in new install Marvin Windows. It is the second project where we used Marvin, and it is the last project. The entire experience from ordering through delivery was fraught with poor communication and problems, that appear to be just poor execution. Add to that, the overall product quality from Marvin manufacturing was just terrible. Months have passed and we are still waiting for at least one window to be rebuilt and multiple damaged jambs to be replaced. What's really telling is how poor the overall customer experience has been, how negatively impactful is has been to us, and how little attention and action it has received from within Marvin and the dealer. I will not use Marvin on future projects and would not recommend them to my clients.

**★ — LosGatosHouse, July 2021**

> I am not someone who posts reviews on the internet, particularly negative feedback. But, given how much false information and untrue ads are out there for the “high quality” of Marvin, I have decided to do what is right and post my experience with them on a few websites, such as Houzz.
>
> Four months after we placed the order, Marvin delivered the windows. Some of the windows had obviously been dropped before delivery. Scratches on the outer frames and bumps on the inner side clearly showed that. We noted the issues as they were unloading the windows and took pictures on their truck. They may claim that they have good quality windows, but when they are dropped it basically does not matter anymore as the structure of the windows is certainly compromised. As for customer service, the windows were delivered in April and we notified the vendor and Marvin of the issues immediately as they were still unloading the windows. Four months later, we are still nowhere and nothing has been fixed. They just delivered one wrong frame for a window which we never asked for a fix and they are not even coming to remove it from my property. No word on when they are going to fix the windows. Total mess on their side and non-existing post-sale support.

> === Update of October 2021
> I got an email from Marvin regional manager today; and it's the middle of OCTOBER -- 6 months after installation date. They plan to replace the broken sashes -- get ready -- in JANUARY NEXT YEAR. This joke is not even funny. Stay away from this company at all cost. They couldn't care less about you once they have your money.

> Marvin windows are fantastic! A quality product that was made to last! We have used Marvin windows in a number of our homes and have only heard great things from our homeowners. Thank you to Marvin for your excellent product!

**Comment from Marvin:**

> Thanks very much for your kind feedback, Moderno Companies! We are fortunate to have great partners like you.

**★★★★★ — Krausch Architectural Windows & Doors, April 2019**

> Marvin's product quality is by far above and beyond many of their competitors. We are proud to be a dealer for all of Marvin's window and door products!

**Comment from Marvin:**

> Thanks very much, Krausch Architectural Windows & Doors team. We're very fortunate to have you as a partner.

**★★ — tiffew, Dec. 2018**

> We spent $63,000.00 buying 38 windows and 4 doors from Marvin. What a colossal waste of money. Many windows arrived shattered and with major cosmetic defects. Those were replaced several times. Soon after we finished building our dream home 6 years ago the string mechanism used to raise and lower the windows began popping off. This inevitably happens in the middle of the night and sounds like a gun shot. We have had to pay to have these repaired multiple times and now have 10 windows with broken parts. It’s just not worth paying or wasting time to repair if they are going to keep breaking. Ironically most of the broken ones are on windows we haven’t ever opened except to clean. This sash cord is so poorly designed it is unbelievable.
>
> In order to lock our kitchen casement window I have to stand on a ladder outside our house and shove it closed.
>
> It all adds up to wasted money, lost sleep and inferior products.

**Comment from Marvin:**

> tiffew, thank you for sharing this feedback. We would welcome the opportunity to assist you further with these concerns. If you could please send us a private message with your preferred contact information, we'd like to connect with you right away. Thanks very much.

> Marvin Windows & Doors offers excellent products for extremely reasonable prices. We have always been satisfied with their customer service and quality of materials.

**Comment from Marvin:**

> Many thanks for taking the time to share about your work with our teams, Klassen Remodeling & Design, Inc. We greatly appreciate your ongoing partnership.

**★★★★★ — W.E. Davies + Sons Remodeling Inc., June 2018**

> This is the only window brand we recommend to our clients. Superior quality! As with any window, you need to install them correctly. A poor installation will make any window fail--homeowners be aware! These are high quality windows, so make sure you have a certified professional install them for warranty purposes.

**Comment from Marvin:**

> Thanks very much for your feedback, W.E. Davies + Sons Remodeling, Inc. We couldn't agree more that quality windows and doors indeed require quality installation.

**★ — Adrian Roelands, April 2018**

> Our Marvin Windows are an absolute disaster. We spent over 100k on windows for our house. Ironically our house is designed by the same architect that designed the house on the cover profile for Marvin on Houzz. The Marvin dealer recommended a coating for our house that lets in a crazy amount of heat. At the time of ordering he assured us the coating would make the house comfortable year round. In actual practice our house will hit 100+ F degrees in January and February even when it's -20 F outside. We have to run our AC even in the middle of the winter or open doors and windows to keep it cool. We had to change out our AC unit for a unit that is more then double the size recommend for our house. In the summer we have to close the blinds and the AC unit runs full blast and can barely keep the temperature 5 degrees cooler then outside. The dealer won't do anything for us and when we contact Marvin they say it is between us and the dealer. Looks like our only option is to spend another 100k and switch to Kolbe, or Lowen. The window coating is the largest of many other issues we are having including the fact that one of the garage doors won't lock, the screens on the sliding doors are junk and keep breaking and falling off. Over all poor quality products and even worse service.

**★★★★★ — Signature Homes of the Chippewa Valley LLC., July 2017**

> A room with a view. When we design custom homes, the surrounding landscape is always a design consideration. How will you see and interact with the outside spaces. Marvin provides us with so many quality options - colors, sizes and finishes. It's what we choose for the view...

**Comment from Marvin:**

> Linda, thanks very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate knowing our customization options help you execute your projects, and we greatly value your partnership. Again, thank you!

**★★★★★ — ARCHITECT MAYA ARDEL-MAIK, July 2017**

> As an architect, I try to use every new project I plan to have with 'Marvin windows and doors'.
> I believe that beyond the beauty of the windows and doors, this is a super-quality product that helps isolate the house from the outside temperatures.
> Luckily, in my private home there are 'Marvin windows and doors' and I can attest to the quality of the product firsthand.
> Highly recommended!

**Comment from Marvin:**

> Maya, many thanks for your feedback and for sharing these stunning images of your work. We are proud to partner with architects like you to help you achieve these gorgeous results.

**★ — Alena Konecny, May 2017**

> We purchased Marvin windows and doors for new construction because they are supposed to be top of the line through one of their authorized dealerships. We have had nothing but problems and no resolution. For the premium you pay for Marvin I would expect premium support but their customer service is non-existent.

**Comment from Marvin:**

> akonecny, we're very sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss further with you and assist wherever possible. If you could please provide your contact information in a direct message here on Houzz, we'd like to get in touch as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

  - Description: Homeowner and interior designer Michael Halpren immediately saw the potential of the meadowed lot his realtor showed him in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Halpren worked with Nate Delasio, founder of Multitude Studios, to design his contemporary two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home set into a sloping hillside. The home design was modeled on the barn structures in rural Connecticut. The interior is a warm, inviting space, with ceiling panels, floors, and window trim all made of white oak. “…

  - Description: Architect Marica McKeel’s goal with her modern, upstate New York home, called Via 43, was to combine her home with the office and studio of her architecture firm Studio MM. Still, when combining the two spaces, McKeel was intentional about keeping her home and work life separate. Her design creates two volumes, one for her personal residence and one for her workspace, connected by a glass-encased gallery hallway. The result is a modular, modern retreat surrounded by nature. Coleman, a designer and blogger known as The Faux Martha, completely renovated the dilapidated structure. The dramatic renovation is an homage to Minnesota and cabin culture. The new windows and doors properly showcased the lake and trees. “Somehow, a wal…

  - Description: The first thing Scott Landry, owner and architect at Studio 101 Designs, noticed when he approached the house in San Rafael, California, was the dramatic bay view. From the property, you could see from McNear Peninsula to the East Bay, all the way to Southern Marin. Landry’s vision for the home’s contemporary remodel centered around maintaining the view, enhancing it, and working around it. With 50 to 60 windows in the house, Landry’s challenge was finding the right product. Landry chose the Mar…

  - Description: Jules Moore’s reimagined Pueblo-style home in Santa Fe brings in light from the surrounding desert and features eclectic décor from her travels around the world. The New Zealand-native immediately loved where the house was situated – perched on a canyon’s edge – when she initially saw the home. The house required a lot of work: it had been uninhabited for 10 years, and its small windows did little to brighten the space and emphasize the natural landscape. Marvin’s Ultimate collection offered the…

## Community Q&A

**Q: aluminium round bay window ideas** *(in Photo Questions)*

I’m looking for ideas for a round bay window for a period 1920 bungalow .

A: Hi David, great comment. Projects like this can really add character to a 1920s bungalow.

While aluminum round bay windows aren’t typically standard, Marvin does offer Round Top windows (including Variation 6, which fits a round‑top design into a rectangular opening) as well as other specialty shapes that could help achieve a similar look while staying true to the home’s style.

**Q: model of folding window and can you get a screen also? Thanks** *(in Photo Questions)*

Looking to have a screen option on this window. Thx!

A: Hello banessa1, we leverage our Signature Ultimate Bi-Fold door platform for this execution. It's available through our Signature Services team, and your local Marvin dealer can assist in partnering with you to specify it. If you don’t have a preferred Marvin dealer in your area, we'd be glad to offer a recommendation, or we’d be happy to connect you with your Marvin sales representative to discuss. Regarding screens, it should be possible to get a screen if it meets the minimum size. Ideally the screen should be ordered with the unit so the opening prepped to accept recessed cassettes and track, this would deliver the best look. Retrofitting is possible but it can be challenging to attain a clean aesthetic, however. To recess the screen cassettes and tracks into that opening will mean a re-work of the opening. This video shows an example of how these screens work. https://youtu.be/ArYi8G6WayI?si=stpGd4xstcentoVm Email us at “social at marvin dot com” if you have further questions or need anything else. Thank you! -MR
