**★★★★★ — Nancy Thurman, Aug. 2019**

> My experience with Advanced Space Concepts couldn't have been any better. Lisette provided a great layout for my smallish closet, optimizing every inch so there is no wasted space. They were on time, met every deadline and didn't leave until the closet was perfect. They cleaned up afterward, including wiping down all the surfaces, vacuuming and taking all the leftover packaging. If you are considering a closet remodel, I highly recommend Advanced Space Concepts. You won't be disappointed.

**Comment from Advanced Space Concepts:**

> Nancy you"re the best, thank you for a great review and i am so glad you like your closet.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Help livening up my bedroom** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Im renting for now , my bedroom is very narrow and has a armoir at the other end of the room. What can i do to make this room a bit more fun? Remember its a tiiiiny room!

A: Have you considered putting the beds against the left wall instead of the length of the room ? It may give you more space.
I would still add the full width of drapes on the window side ( of course) that Natalie suggested and I would greatly advise a hanging lamp which would allow you more space on the very narrow table added between the beds.
Mirrors always give you the larger look and can be used later on in your next abode. I would put one above each bed. Ross or T.J Max always have them and they are lovely and inexpensive.
While the bunk beds are a good idea for this space it may not work in the next one and yet you will have absorbed a decent expense.

**Q: Need help with Lighting and Curtians, other ideas?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My husband and I want to make this room more welcoming. We painted the walls a darker color, but now the room is cave-like and shadowy. We want to install some lights, but not sure what/where. Floor lamp possibly, reading light, and some rope light in dark ceiling corners (?).

I just took down some dark valences, and I'm thinking about French Ivory panels from moulding to floor next to the windows to soften and lighten the color.

We'd appreciate any ideas you have.

A: I would remove the loveseat from that location and replace it with a couple of small chairs with a table between them. As for the lighting I would replace the ceiling fan with a very large chandelier and sconces.

**Q: What can I do with these windows?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Should I just put two plants in the windows? Add window seats? get plantation shutters? I am at a loss. Thank you.

A: Pivoines is absolutely right on all counts. You could use some color in the room and her/his suggestions are perfect. I second the motion.

**Q: Help Lighten Up My Kitchen/Dining Room!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I love my kitchen but Id like to lighten it up a little without having to tear down anything. Any ideas on wall art & dining room furniture? Maybe island decor as well?

A: I agree with tsudhonimh, the dark floor with the dark dining set and the dark countertop makes it all "dark". if you like your dining ste by all means keep it but add a light color rug underneath it and slip cover the chairs. All of which would reduce on expenses. I would paint the cabinets a light color, either white or cream but keep the countertop as is. A couple of bar stools would do nicely at the island, that along with the rug under the table will separate the 2 rooms.

**Q: how to finish staircases** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have wood stained stairs & staircases. I'm wanting to paint, but I like the wood grain appeal. I don't have white baseboard, I have lots of stained pine (there is a sunken living room with pine railing overlooking from the kitchen) any suggestions?

A: A combination of stained wood and painted risers is quite effective and looks fresh. I have had positve comments on mine as shown.

**Q: To stoop or not to stoop** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Our home is very traditional and needs some design flair. We are going to landscape but decided we should investigate adding a stoop over the front porch. We would like to change our door to an all wood door but need some overhang for protection. Any suggestions on what would look best?

A: The entrance of the house Emily sent is a wonderful look, in addition to that you might consider taking down those too small, disproportionate, shutters and replace them with millwork. I will attempt to send you a picture of what I did to my house.
