He's extremely knowledgeable about Rakks products and always helpful and kind. Although I didn't end up ordering a system with him, he's always my go-to for help with my Rakks systems. I've ordered replacement hardware from him in the past and pricing was always fair and super fast shipping. Thanks Guy! **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Hi LG > Thank you for the review. As I always say to folks, When I'm not on this side of the phone, I'm on your side. Thanks again! **★★★★★ — npillorge50, Feb. 2026** > We recently re-installed a three-bay wide wall shelving and drawer unit that Guy had helped me design with the Rakks system years ago, in our new home. Guy helped us install it perfectly while on the phone remotely, guiding us all the way. He was so patient and knowledgeable. I thought it was going to impossible but he made it easy. It was a real pleasure working with him. **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank you so much. You were a pleasure to work with as well. **★★★★★ — Lulu Brotherton, Aug. 2024** > Guy (Sensitive Infromation Hidden) (The Shelf Shop Guy) has twice helped design large, fitted bookshelves for my apartment (consisting of floor-to-ceiling poles supporting 7 or 8 shelves). I recommend him highly as both a professional and a reliable, understanding guide; he is a perfect combination of the personable and the professional. His deep familiarity with the materials involved made it easier for me to consider the choices at hand. Though not unwilling to give his opinion about some idea of mine, he would never impose his preferences. He remained present (over email) even after his part in the bookshelf project was finished, staying in contact with me and the other professionals involved in this project, because he wanted to make sure it came out OK. In Guy I sensed a true interest and concern that my bookshelf project be completed to my satisfaction. If I had any more space to build more shelves, I'd definitely hire Guy again! **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank You! I was very nice working with you again **★★★★★ — rrothenberg, April 2024** > I’ve been working with Shelf Shop Guy for more than 30 years, and I’ve been extraordinarily happy with his designs, his attentiveness, his advice, and his problem-solving abilities. The Rakks system - his specialty - is a marvel of Mid-Century Modern design, and looks as contemporary today as when it was introduced. Terrific, sturdy, lovely shelving, sourced and serviced by the consummate professional. **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank so much for these kind words. It's always a pleasure working with you. **★★★★★ — James Gillson, Sept. 2023** > Recently moved, and Guy coordinated dissembling of existing Rakks shelf system at my old place and expansion/reassembly at my new place. He was a pleasure to work with and accomplished everything flawlessly Jesse, who did the actual system takedown/reassembly, was super competent and accomplished everything perfectly. Work with Guy - he's the best! **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank You! Looking forward to your next project or reference **★★★★★ — Andy Granda, Sept. 2023** > I first contacted Guy in 2022 for a shelving project in my home office and it was such a great experience that I reached out again in 2023. Guy was incredibly helpful in figuring out the best use of a tight space in ways that others would have overlooked. I’d highly recommend Guy to my family and friends and would work with him again in the future **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thanks for your kind words. It was a pleasure working with you as well. **★★★★★ — grfaaa, Feb. 2022** > Purchased Rakks bookcase a few years ago from Guy at Shelf Shop Guy. > I have moved twice since then which has required the disassembly/reassembly of bookcase. > Guy is professional, responsive and resourceful and has been so helpful whenever contacted. **★★★★★ — Dan J, Feb. 2022** > Guy has helped me with several jobs over the years, most recently in early 2022, ranging from a few shelves to an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling shelves and cabinets. He's been terrific to do business with! From design to installation (or DIY guidance for small things I've done myself), he understands what you're trying to accomplish and helps you find the best way to do it. He's also really responsive, patient with dumb questions, and good at explaining options and considerations. I've been thrilled with the systems he's set me up with and we get lots of compliments about them. You will be glad you chose him! **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank You! > As always, a pleasure to work with you! **★★★★★ — AMQ, Oct. 2021** > We have used Shelf Shop Guy for two Rakks installations. Both experiences have been great start to finish. Guy is an excellent, friendly communicator and provides helpful insight during the design process. Project timelines were clearly conveyed and delivery/install remained on schedule. Jesse’s installation job was clean and precise. > > Rakks products are versatile, functional and super sturdy. We were in need of shelves to support very heavy books but didn’t want to weigh down the room with clunky, thick shelving. Since the shelves and hardware are aluminum, we were able to create an almost floating effect in our small home office. > > Guy was also able to contract a custom desk top and file drawer to fit our shelves using Forbo furniture laminate for the desk top and drawer facing. > > I could not recommend more highly! **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > thank you so much! Always great working with you! You're the best **★★★★★ — Christina Gruppuso, Oct. 2021** > We have had our shelving for about 13 years and Guy has moved it for us twice. We also bought new shelves and everything was installed in a timely manner and with the utmost professionalism. If we ever need more shopping, we will call him immediately! **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with you again, the support of your business and this nice review. **★★★★★ — Heron, Sept. 2021** > Guy and his team are great & super nice to work with. Also very understanding and genuinely I could tell they wanted to do a great job and gave our project the attention it needed. > > We had to make some adjustments as well, and they were very supportive to come back and help us fix it. We love our shelving system (its so strong you could climb up it if you wanted to).... Great job Guy! > > I would recommend Guy to any of my friends! Thanks. **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank you for your business and great review. Glad to play a supporting role on your project **★★★★★ — PMM, July 2021** > Guy did a fantastic job of helping us plan, order, and install a wall of bookshelves. We were working with him long distance, and things couldn't have gone more smoothly. He is easily the most responsive person we've dealt with during the process of getting a new home up and running, answering questions quickly and clearly. And he was a patient, calm guide with useful tips as we two non-professionals installed the system he got to us quickly and without glitches. We recommend him highly. **Comment from SHELF SHOP GUY INC.:** > Thank you so much for this wonderful review. It was a pleasure working with you! ## Selected projects - [Bookshelves](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bookshelves-pj-vj~2412560) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 17 - Description: Bookshelves are size dependent but may start at $200 on up - [Custom Shelving](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/custom-shelving-pj-vj~2302231) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 23 - [Wall System](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/wall-system-pj-vj~110268) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 18 - [Media System](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/media-system-pj-vj~116178) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 13 - [Simple Kitchen Storage Solutions](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/simple-kitchen-storage-solutions-pj-vj~1738285) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 5 - [Closets](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/closets-pj-vj~522781) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 6 - [SSG Installs](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/ssg-installs-pj-vj~421825) - Location: New York, NY - Photos: 11 - [Danka Panka Salon](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/danka-panka-salon-pj-vj~178445) - Location: Brooklyn, NY - Photos: 1 - [Move and reconfigured](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/move-and-reconfigured-pj-vj~6065466) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 6 - [Home office project](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/home-office-project-pj-vj~5791417) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 2 [See all 10 projects](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/custom-closet-designer/shelf-shop-guy-inc-pfvwus-pf~251848564) ## Ideabooks - [Shelf Shop Ideas](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/80571453/list/shelf-shop-ideas) — 4 ideas [See all 1 ideabook](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/users/guycampbell) ## Community Q&A **Q: Rakks Shelves with pine shelves?** *(in Photo Questions)* Are these pine shelves?
