Founder Kevin B. Howard is a native of Arizona; he has an innate appreciation for the local land and designs site-specific homes that are fully integrated into the landscape, adapting Wrightian principles of organic architecture. “All of the influences of a site—the cacti, flora and fauna, topography, site orientation to the sun— all of these become a factor in designing a home,” says Howard, who is also inspired by the modern tectonic approaches of Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. 

Rooted in the ideals of sustainability, authenticity of materials and carefully integrated construction, Kevin B. Howard Architects is helping redefine the relationship between built form and nature. “We strive for every house we design to have less of an impact on its local environment,” Howard says. “Many of our roofs don solar panels that supply the home with electricity. “Our designs are driven by a need for homes to be sustainable,” he says. “Form follows that very important environmental function.”

> My first acupuncture practice was in Kevin Howard's office building where his own architecture firm is located.  For the most part, he did the buildout on the tenant space that I occupied for four years.

He thought for only a minute and responded "Let the white clouds flow down the east-west walls. That will take care of it."  And it did.  It then was perfect.  Lighted like the desert, soft like the client's heart.

> We retained Kevin as our architect for a 3rd home we plan to build in Tucson, Arizona in the gated community of Sabino Springs Estates.   While we reviewed the built works of several very capable architects located in Tucson, we selected Kevin because of his versatility in design.  Having been in the product design and marketing business for the past 45 years, I have worked with many designers over the years and I have found Kevin Howard to be, not only an incredible talent but a pleasure to work with.  He has the unique ability to interpret exactly what my wife and I wanted and execute a finished design product that goes beyond what we had thought possible.  He is very easy to work with as he is more than willing to take your ideas and apply them to the design in a way which does not compromise the aesthetic of the architecture/structure. As you can see by the attached computer generated images, we were not looking for the typical, south west architecture but rather a site specific structure with a minimalist approach to design.

Can you tell me the manufacturer, name and color of the tile? Is this porcelain?

A: Pera Tile / Travertine Cordoba Cream Filled/12x24.... but pretty sure it is discontinued. Sorry!

The way the inside (lounge/living) room is set up is really nice. Could I please know the dimensions of the room?

A: The interior dimensions from entertainment to kitchen island is 20'-0" wide. The depth from window to window is 23'-0" long.

A: Thanks you for your inquiry. The countertop stone is Elegant Brown, purchased at Galleria of Stone in Denver. The local vendor who ordered and installed the Stone is Counter Intelligence in Santa Fe. They can be reached at 505-988-4007. Hope that helps!

A: We were not the interior designers, but I believe this was a Mexican Limestone
