After the old fence was removed, I was left with approximately 1–1.5 feet of exposed earth above my existing retaining wall and below the newly installed fence. Soil and debris began moving onto my property, portions of my garden were damaged, parts of my existing retaining wall were damaged and buried, and concrete slurry from the installation spilled onto my retaining wall, furniture, planter boxes, and landscaping. > > The new fence footings were installed approximately 22 inches into the ground. Because the soil immediately below and around the fence is now exposed and moving, I am concerned about the long-term stability of the fence unless the retaining condition is corrected. > > I contacted Cool Cat immediately and repeatedly asked for a manager or warranty representative to inspect the affected area from my property. After escalating the issue to company leadership, Cool Cat eventually sent three representatives out to inspect and document the condition firsthand. > > I provided before-and-after photographs, same-day video, and professional contractor estimates for cleanup, restoration of the damaged garden beds and plants, and the retaining work needed to address the exposed soil condition. > > Cool Cat has agreed only to clean up the concrete slurry. Don't go with them. Your fence will NOT look like their website. If I had paid all the money they would not come back to make repairs. They send a crew of maybe 10 workers to build the fence. Now keep in mind not all workers have the same skill and experience. They get done quickly that way but your fence will be good then different widths and gaps. I had them come back twice to repair and strengthen the fence. Strong wind and fence would be down. They ghosted me in between repairs and would not communicate with me. They put filler putty on boards that need repair like we wouldn't notice. It was a nightmare. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT 4 WEEKS OF HEADACHE OVER AN ORIGINAL CRAP JOB. > Such a disappointment. Workers showed up a day later than text confirmation. Workers brought large stereo system with thumping bass that they played from 830 until they were called and told to turn it off around 6. They asked 13 year old child if the whole fence line was coming down. Then stated they didnt have materials. Now the real issue. They destroyed landscaping all around the new fence line. Breaking up the old concrete in the landscaped lava rocks. Ripping apart a concrete walkway barrier, as well as the threshold. The best thing. The fence in no longer a secure enclosure as they failed to make the gate go low enough so dogs cats and children can climb under it freely. We paid $16,500 for our fence and expected at least decent communication and professionalism. Unfortunately, we got neither. > > Communication was extremely poor throughout the project, especially with our foreman. A language barrier led to the entire fence being installed backwards. We decided we could live with that, but when we requested the gate be flipped so the smooth side faced the street, we were told we’d need to pay extra because we hadn’t “communicated that”. I did think their bid was detail oriented, which I appreciated, and they initially made it sound like they could build a fence to work with my varying requirements (based on plants.neighbors). After my initial bid, they said to send them some pinterest photos of the details I wanted for the gate and what I wanted for the posts in the front. > > They also tried really hard to sell me on hog wire for a section near some privacy trees, even though they wouldn't do hogwire 6ft tall like I needed for my dog, only 5ft tall. Then for chain link they only sent me the cost for regular chain link and just said that "black would cost more" and even though I wanted black chain link. Anyways, I never saw an updated bid from them. > > I emailed them, called them, and texted them. They kept saying they would 'get back to me' and then just never did. > > It was really frustrating since I asked if they already had a full schedule and they just kept dragging it out. I checked with several places. The Inline Fence estimator came as scheduled. Though I thought I wanted a chain link fence, the estimator recommended a black vinyl fence (much more attractive). He measured the fence area and suggested I link up with the fence on the South side of the yard. He then gave us an estimate. The Inline Fence people came as scheduled and started to work immediately. They worked quickly and even did a very nice connection and replaced a post with our South side existing fence. They did the job even more quickly than I expected and left everything very clean and neat. Their quotation was similar to other companies , but I was so impressed with their estimator and the workmen. They did a really excellent job.
