The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Philadelphia Cream. A: We installed Hunter Douglas plantation shutters in a window similar to yours. It's true that they needed privacy, but it is a very elegant look. By using a 3 1/2 inch for 4 1/2 inch louver it allows for great see through. **Q: Are my curtains too high?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Thank you for your thoughts and opinion! (Just hung them by a professional but now I am having doubts... What do you think? (I will be putting up sheers - how many should I put?) A: I would recommend lowering the rod somewhere between the top of the window and the ceiling. This would allow the rod to stand out. If you "puddle" the draperies it will give the appearance of greater fullness. **Q: Curtains for my bedroom** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have six windows, neutral walls and a colorful new quilt I made. What curtains should I get? A: I would use a black wrought iron rod. You can purchase them with 90° swivel sockets. I would use side panels made of a sheer material to give you a relaxed and welcoming feel. **Q: Window shade** *(in Photo Questions)* I like the fit of the window screen shade. Is this a Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Shade? Is it a HD valance? On the window it looks like a a flat squared off valance. Is it curved like the door or squared off? Is it fabric covered with the shade fabric? What is the minimum depth possible for a valance to be installed flush with the wall? A: The power wand fits behind the cartridge. The cartridge is the same size. I would recommend the same size cartridge for both the 27" and the 80 1/2". I feel it would add uniformity. Hunter Douglas is coming out with a new motorize lifting system in a couple of months, if you can wait on it , that's what I would do. It will be better pricing. I will check the exact depth needed for the shad to be fully recessed, but I don't think that if it projects out a little that it would be bad. **Q: Wall mirror** *(in Photo Questions)* Where can I source the wall mirror from thank you A: It looks similar to one that we've installed for Ethan Allen. **Q: window coverings? Solar shades or Hunter Douglas Nantucket? Help!** *(in Design Dilemma)* We have sheer panels on either side of our sliding glass doors. The sheer panels have a horizontal stripe running through them. Now we need to cover the sliders and are trying to keep the afternoon sun out. Because of the horizontal stripe, we are concerned about using Hunter Douglas Nantucket or Pirouettes. Perhaps solar shades is the way to go. Our house is contemporary. My concern is whether the solar shades are too plain and whether the Nantucket (with its horizontal slats) will be too busy next to panels that also have a horizontal design. I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you. A: It sounds to me that you only need the shade to help with sun protection. The rest of the time the sheers are all you need. If that is the case I would recommend using the Hunter Douglas designer screen or roller shades. I would also recommend that you look at the Hunter Douglas vertiglide. The stack back is minimal.
