We originally wanted to have it painted in 2014, but we weren't able to proceed at that time. I still had the contact info for Jerry, the account specialist who I had spoken with back then. He still remembered us and came out make sure that he provided us an accurate quote based on our painting needs and budget. Jerry was very responsive via phone and email. As an aside, it's good to see these days where companies still have the same people! Jerry gave us a clear quote, and there were no hidden costs. Before the job commenced, Ellie contacted us to arrange a walkthrough of our house and ensure that he and his team could not only meet our expectations but also answer our questions before the job commenced. Ellie and Jesus (Chuy) showed up bright and early at 7 a.m. every day to work on our house (Gustavo and Kevin also worked on our house the last day), and Ellie always made himself available for updates and questions. He even told us that we could call him after hours with any questions or concerns, which we actually did after we made the mistake of selecting the wrong paint color for the stucco, which we felt was too light. Ellie was very helpful and understanding even though it must have been nearly 8 p.m. He worked with the office early the next morning to send us a revised statement and raced to the paint store to get us the new color that we liked. He did his best to keep costs down and tried to keep the schedule on track as best he could given the situation. Talk about Superman! I can't say enough about Ellie and his team. I have a gold mirror, hopefully getting this fab sink made and want it to be contemporary glam. Leaning towards 2nd row, 1st from left. Bathroom pictured is my inspiration. Thank you! The entire region has such a unique style of homes, I love it! **Q: put shutters back on and paint them or leave off?** *(in Polls)* We’ve recently re-sided our house. Should we paint the decorative shutters (if so what color) and put them back on the window above the door and the upper level room, or leave them off? Does the width of the upper room window with the shutters off look weird compared to the window beneath? A: I think just putting the shutters back on the top left window would be best. **Q: Kitchen backsplash** *(in Polls)* Originally I selected this marble looking backsplash for my kitchen. I’m considering switching it to a plain white. Which do you like better? A: I agree with most others that you should go with plain white. It gives you a lot more freedom with the rest of the kitchen. **Q: New Tub & Faucet** *(in Before & After)* Heavy Tub but beautiful A: Nice, I really like the faucet. **Q: Carpenters installed my Juniper windows** *(in Design Dilemma)* I made these window units earlier this summer, under a tarp in my back yard using all portable equipment. I used standard TDL single pane 3'x3.5' Brosco barn sash. The siding they used is roasted Poplar. The windows are made from Eastern Red Cedar, but it's really a species of Juniper, the same stuff used in closets. I retained the band sawn finish and variation in thickness by as much as 1/4" while still maintaining tolerances around the sash of about 1/16", sufficient for felted wool weatherstripping.
