### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Kim Thoreson, June 2020**

> We did a fairly large home renovation, including completely redoing our kitchen cabinets and adding an island, and working with Mobi made the kitchen the easiest part of the entire project. Natalia and Rick were super responsive, helping us with our many questions along the way. Our meetings in person were excellent - it was easy to see past work they did and to choose the color, style, and any special details we wanted. Natalia even designed a custom medicine cabinet for our master bathroom, as we couldn't find exactly what we were looking for elsewhere, and we absolutely love it. Our contractor had also worked with Mobi in the past and had nothing but positive feedback for them. I would highly recommend Mobi for any cabinet project you are looking to do!

**★★★★★ — Abby Swaine, Nov. 2019**

> Our project was urgent (remodeling for a newly wheelchair-bound son), and Mobi staff were super responsive, kind, resourceful and creative. The cabinets were on time, gorgeous and surprisingly affordable. Inside, they feature pull-down shelves that Natalia sourced, so our son can reach all contents. Their manufacturing shop is local, and well-run. What more could one ask?

**★★★★★ — Lynne Guarino, May 2019**

> Met with MOBI representatives to come up with design plans for my kitchen renovation . We decided on a L shape Design with 10’ island. I was so impressed with with the professionalisms, pride and quality that we received throughout the entire process. From the design team to the cabinet makers, to the men who delivered the cabinets
> The attention to detail and quality was refreshingly exceptional!

**★★★★★ — Rosemary Belt, April 2019**

> This is the place to go for your kitchen cabinets! Mobi was wonderful to work with. My cabinets are beautiful and well made - and the pricing was excellent. The owner, Rick, and the designer, Natalia, were so great to deal with. I loved the way they handled everything - a rare experience. Don't pick your cabinet company without talking to Mobi first. Top notch company!

**★★★★★ — Pratibha rana, June 2018**

> I recently had my kitchen redone. The cabinets were done by Mobi. I couldn't have been happier with them. The entire process was very smooth. Rick and Natalia gave me various designs, we went back and forth and settled on a design that made the space very open and functional. The quality of the cabinets is exceptional and the price was unbeatable. I really liked the fact that the manufacturing is right here in Billerica. I had my contractor go in and take a look in case I was missing something. He was equally impressed with the whole process. Post installation Rick and Keith took care of a few minor adjustments that needed to be done. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend using them for your next project.

**★★★★★ — Melissa Pescatore, Feb. 2018**

> I would highly recommend Rick & his team at Detail Woodworking. They took initial kitchen drawings from my architect and worked very closely with me on every detail I wanted to incorporate into my kitchen. They also lined me up with their internal design team (who met me on numerous occasions) to help me pick my countertops and backsplash tile (and other products for my renovation). They were able to provide their opinions and expertise on my color scheme and helped me fine tune all the little details. I would happily work with them again - and plan to on my kitchen pantry - and have already referred over family/friends to them. I must say their prices were reasonable for the quality of cabinetry and attention to detail they gave throughout the many months I worked with them. Also the installer they referred to do our cabinet install was great!!! Definitely exceeded my expectations in all areas of the project from beginning to end.

**★★★★★ — Silvana Sawaya Architect, Feb. 2018**

> I am an architect who has used Rick's beautiful cabinets multiple times, including my own kitchen. Rick and his staff are not only detailed, and caring, they are also great problem solvers when there is an unexpected issue. We had a fire in our house and debated whether to salvage Rick's cabinets. At closer look we found that all doors were still square, drawers were sliding smoothly, the plywood boxes in perfect condition, in better shape than the ones in the rental house. My husband quickly salvaged and stored those precious cabinets. And when I contacted Rick, he promptly replied that he was happy to help us complete the new kitchen in the new house we are about to build!

**★★★★★ — Eric H. Gjerde Architect, Dec. 2017**

> I have recently collaborated with a Kitchen project in Beverly Farms Massachusetts. I was able to provide my client with plans and interior elevations for the new Kitchen and Detail Woodworking was able to make shop drawings and verify existing dimensions to insure a seamless integrated approach. I have high expectations for the quality of cabinets and they exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed seeing an overlay door design that appeared to be inset with some good semi custom detailing. It is always a balance between cost & quality and the secret is how to achieve this without the appearance that saving money reduce the quality. The final results speak for itself. This is my third project with Detail Woodworking.

**★★★★★ — Holly Quattlebaum, Sept. 2017**

> Detail Woodworking designed cabinets for my kitchen, and were awesome to work with! They met with me to review my wants and needs, and put together an awesome two dimensional rendering which they presented with the quote which was super helpful. Their pricing was below other bids I had received, and the finished product was amazing. I'm happy I chose to work with them, because they also provided design advice for the complete kitchen: backsplash, counters flooring, furniture as part of my package. Additionally, they were able to create full color 2 dimensional, virtual renderings to show all of the products I selected which gave me a clear understanding of what the actual kitchen would look like with the products I selected. They were readily available to answer all of my questions and helped from start to finish. The cabinets were completed on time, and were perfect! I would 100% recommend working with them!

**Comment from Mobi Cabinets:**

> Hi Holly,
> Thank you so much for the wonderful review! Your project was so much fun and you were a pleasure to work with! Feel free to come and visit anytime, our door is always open!

**★★★★★ — Gerry Ertel, April 2017**

> We had cabinets built for our kitchen renovation and two bathrooms. The workmanship and attention to detail is excellent and the owners are a pleasure to work with. We love our cabinets for their functionality and their beauty. We have referred many of our friends to them.

**★★★★★ — Jeff Davis, April 2017**

> Detail Woodworking helped make our kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, office and mudroom projects as easy as possible - the service was great, very professional. The custom cabinetry is high quality. We love the outcome, particularly of the kitchen and mudroom. Detail Woodworking catered to the needs of our projects and budget. I recommend this company for anyone who wants a timeless cabinet product for their project or renovation.

**★★★★★ — C Herrmann, April 2017**

> Detail Woodworking is an excellent company and I am so happy with the work they did for me! I wasn't sure the vision I had for our project could be done but they did it better than I could have hoped for!

  - Description: Slab doors and drawers in the bathrooms and vanities show off the modern look in a simple and sleek way. To add excitement, two tones were used in the kitchen cabinetry to contrast against each other. Crisp cool white was combined with a rich warm tone calling attention to different aspects of the space. With large ceiling height, the darker tones help to ground the kitchen in it's place. Opening shelving keeps the main focus of the kitchen on the scenery through the window instead of squeezing in cabinetry. The open walls keep the kitchen in the minimalist construction as does the slab doors and drawers. The bar area was mimicked off the kitchen cabinets but pull the dark island color to a separate space in the open concept. The mudroom was built with specific factors taking affect, and the built-ins…

  - Description: This gorgeous contemporary kitchen done in Lexington, MA does a great job showing our custom cabinetry. Creating an open cabinet big enough and deep enough to house a TV and allow it the ability to swivel was just one of the custom ideas we needed to create. Two toned kitchens are in style and this homeowner took that trend and ran with it! Blending the island and surround paint colors into the tile backsplash, created a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing view no matter where you look.

With a wall dividing the living room and dining room, the kitchen was dark and tiny. By knocking down the diving wall and putting a peninsula in its place, the kitchen was opened up to appear visually bigger and additional cabinets could be added for more storage. Crisp white cabinets reflect the light around the entire open concept, while the dark warm tone of the wooden countertop crea…

With the island being a different color, the island becomes not only functional but a focal point in the center of the room. Each condo fairly similar to the next, with a few hidden minor tweaks to make them their own unique home. This project done by Alan Berfield, was tricky with the rounded walls and certain requirements, but the plus of doing custom cabinetry is no problem is an obstacle...only an opportunity for greatness.

  - Description: Peninsula cabinets are extremely useful when you have a cut through but want to add more storage to that area. By using peninsula cabinets, the items stored inside can be accessed from either inside the kitchen or the adjoining room. This is a great compromise when you want to add more storage cabinets but do not have an actual wall to attach them to. By adding glass to the doors, the items inside are easily view able so you can see which door it is you need to open. The glass also lets the ligh…

  - Description: Not all kitchens are open with unlimited space to use. This kitchen is a great example of obstacles some projects encounter that affect the design layout. With this post needing to stay in the kitchen for structural reasons, the island that the customer wanted was going to have to work around this. Cabinets were installed around the post to create an illusion that the post is rising from the center. By adding the cabinets around the post, the customer is not loosing any countertop space or cabin…

For this kitchen, they have high ceilings, so the cubes were designed to go the full height of the wall cabinets from the countertop. Even if the bottles are empty, the decorative and elegant look is really brought into the kitchen space and gives that bar like entertaining feel to the peninsula wrap around.

  - Description: Narrow kitchens are sometimes hard to design with all the elements that the homeowner wants. With not a lot of room for appliances in the surround cabinets, the customer decided to go along with the double ovens so the cabinet takes up one square of the floor plan other then two. An island is added to the center of the kitchen to follow the narrow length, and add a drop zone in the center. Since the kitchen was narrow we had to come up with different ways to add some decorative details without t…

  - Description: Both kitchens show how oak can look different in two different styles of home. Modern vs. southwestern, styles are created with changing the door style on the custom cabinets. Slab doors and drawers become the modern kitchen and give sleek and clean lines. Shaker oak, gives the southwestern look with the door profile and boarder. By seeing both kitchens in oak wood you can see that no matter what wood selection you choose you can still create the kitchen of your dreams.

With custom cabinetry that's never an issue! With this kitchen the structural post is smack dab in the middle of where the island needs to go. We built the cabinets to the island around the post giving it a unique shape to fit the curve of the kitchen itself. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Chairs for a farmhouse table** *(in Design Dilemma)*

What chairs would look nice with this table that are comfortable and kid friendly? Need five.

A: Good Morning!
We would love to help you select chairs for your gorgeous table! I have provided two options I think would suit your needs. One is more of a simple "farmhouse" look while the other is a more dressier yet functional option. I found both on Wayfair and are not to expensive either.
https://www.wayfair.com/August-Grove-Charlotte-Arrowback-Side-Chair-ATGR1038.html
https://www.wayfair.com/Lark-Manor-Pompon-Nailhead-Side-Chair-LARK2735.html
Let me know if you need more assistance!

**Q: Kitchen remodel advice** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Very appreciative of advice for an upcoming kitchen remodel. We need a new fridge, which will be a stainless side-by-side with bottom freezer built-in Sub Zero. As such, we now are in the works for new cabinetry considerations. The fridge will remain in the same spot, flush with new cabinetry. We are looking to retain the current layout, but open to any ideas regarding cabinet decision. Our current cabinets are flat-panel, but showing their age (1992 we have come to learn). We want a flat-panel style for the new look, but wood? Painted? Our island currently houses a microwave on the side and is painted a greenish-gray. Wanting to change that as well. We also want to change countertop to more modern white substance. Our house is a flat-roofed mid-century and our aesthetic is white walls, minimal but warm and organic. The cabinets nearest the kitchen table are only 8" deep- open to restructuring that area as well.

Much appreciated!

A: I would do slab thermofoil cabinets or slab veneer cabinets in a rich color. Both options would keep with the more modern minimalist look that the kitchen has now. Since the walls are white I would stay away from white either direction you go.

**Q: What would you pair with this bed?** *(in Furniture)*

We like the nightstands/dressers to not match the bed... this bed is black, and we're looking to get pieces that work with it but don't match it (so, not black).

The room is an off white/cream color, huge windows to one side will have sheet cream curtains. Floor is light carpeting. Any opinions appreciated; thanks in advance!

A: I did a quick search on Wayfair and immediately liked this one to match your bed. It's soft and simple but gives a beautiful contrast to your bed. The legs also match the turned style bedframe. It looks like they have it in different colors that you could choose from if this color doesn't do it for you. Any nightstand you select I think should have some sort of turned legs to keep the space open and airy like the bed does.

**Q: Help! New home living room decoration...** *(in Other)*

We are building our home and recently bought a charcoal grey sofa and my husband picked out a nice chair but it has same charcoal grey in ONE BIG BOLD PRINT. We will need a rug and also some color and I am at a loss! I a not very good at decorating and I thought maybe all of you could help me! the pictures are stock photos ( the chair is less buttery yellow then in the picture), the house is still under constructio. Thank you in advance!

A: There is a rule in design that you can have three patterns as long as they are small, medium, and large. I chose this first rug because it brings in some subtle color and is a nice contrast to the dark furniture. The large pattern wont compete with the medium pattern on the chair.

I selected this rug as the second option because of the very large pattern and the contrast between the furniture, while keeping in the same color family.

**Q: Two Tone Kitchen - need help with pantry wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Two tone kitchen with dark lowers (SW Cyberspace) and white uppers. I originally planned on pantry cabinets on either side of the fridge in the dark color. There is nothing else on this wall. Now we think we will do pantry on left of fridge but uppers and lowers on the right (to open the entry to the kitchen a little more). Can I have dark on the left and the two tone on the right? Counter top is white so that will break up the color on the right even if I do all dark. I can't find a photo with either option. Thank you!

A: This picture shows a pretty good representation of exactly what your thinking. Where as you only have a small pantry next to the fridge I think it wont be as over powering. Here at Detail we do the pantry in the darker color 85% of the time. It all depends on if the homeowners like it. Since you have plenty of white in the kitchen, the dark pantry might help to give a definite end to the run.

**Q: Porch color, light fixtures** *(in Windows)*

Hi there! We are going to be painting our front porch which is now a red color. We are wondering if we should paint it brown to go with the front door or garage door (also will be painting the trim around the garage door to match the new garage door) or if we should choose something different to add interest? Maybe grey? A different color? Also going to be changing the light fixtures and it feels like maybe we should go bigger? Also thoughts about adding decorative grilles around the perimeter of the two large front windows to break things up and make it less stark? Something with a craftsman feel maybe? Would love any advice! Thank you!!

A: You can it simple with colors but change it up with the materials and textures. All the colors can be the same but you could use paint for the large sections and find matching shingles for around the garage and the window area above the front door. It may be a little more expensive depending on your selections for materials however. I would lighten the house up with lighter trim, whether white or another color, because it will define each area of the home. I would match the front door and the garage door color. So in total you would have three different colors but only two different materials around the house.
