> Wes and Jody are the perfect example of how to be a small business success! They are invested in completing small and large projects with equal care and commitment. The workmanship and expertise has made them my go-to wood fabricator for over 5 years now.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Cotton, Jan. 2020**

> We love love love our custom countertops from WR Woodworking. They did a custom spalted pecan butcher block for our kitchen island, a set of shelves for our living room and a live edge bar top. The workmanship is spectacular and the people who worked on our project were fantastic. We get so many compliments . . .

**★★★★★ — Stacy Mansoor, July 2019**

> WR Woodworking is simply AMAZING! Our center island is the true centerpiece and focal point of our small kitchen. Wes turned a regular builder style island into a showpiece. We chose a slab of live oak that many carpenters prefer not to work with but Wes brought out the beauty in this large slab. Thank you and we highly recommend you!

**★★★★★ — Buddy Preston, Sept. 2017**

> When I purchased walnut butcher block counters and island for my new home, I needed to find a capable company of providing the cutting, installing and finishing as well as the cutouts for the sink and island range. After calling countertop companies in the Austin area, I found WR Woodworking and hired them to do the job. They did a very professional on-site installation and made precise cuts for the sink and range on time and within budget. I am very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them for any quality woodworking project you might have in mind. My new kitchen looks fabulous thanks to WR Woodworking.

> First I have to say that working with Wes and Jodie was so easy! We are in Florida and the only form of communication was by phone and email. They made the entire experience a breeze!
> They delivered our culinary island and stools and we fell in love with it all! It is absolutely gorgeous! It is a work of art! In addition, it is very well made. You can tell that they take pride in what they do! We would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a piece that will last them a lifetime!

**★★★★★ — Anna Wydeven, Nov. 2016**

> When we went to install a counter on a massive peninsula we knew we faced a challenge. At over 12 ft in length there is really no option that lacks a seam. After extensive research and tons of sketch ups, I ran into a picture of Wes' work here on Houzz. It showed a gorgeous counter that butted up to a butcherblock at the end, and it was a perfect solution. Within minutes I was corresponding with Jody and we made an appt for a home visit.
>
> We love the care and detailing Wes put into the project. He instructed us about how to trim out the Quartz so that the butcherblock seamlessly abuts the counter and it is perfect. We are now the proud owners of a stunning Quartz counter with a walnut butcherblock showpiece. We plan to stage buffet style from that end of the kitchen.
>
> Wes makes breathtaking pieces of furniture and innovates in his design. He used a new finish on our piece and it seems indestructible.
>
> We are so pleased with the work and highly recommend. Thanks, Wes and Jody!

**★★★★★ — laurenburkett, Jan. 2016**

> Wes & Jody are an amazing team and a pleasure to work with. The quality of the custom walnut table top for our kitchen booth turned out better than we ever imagined. Not only do they do awesome work but they are honest, professional and the best at what they do. I highly recommend you contact them for any custom wood work for your project.

**★★★★★ — 47michel, Dec. 2015**

> Wes built a custom pecan wood cutting board for us and we cannot say enough about how beautiful it came out and how happy we are with it! He and his wife are very nice and easy to work with, prompt with their communications and did exactly what we asked and had a quick turn around time. I would highly recommend WR Woodworking.

**★★★★★ — jkallina, Aug. 2015**

> Wes replaced my granite bar top with a gorgeous piece of pecan with a live edge. It is absolutely beautiful. The workmanship is exquisite. Wes and his wife are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I highly recommend them.

**★★★★★ — bindikai, Jan. 2015**

> We are thrilled with our island top, and the built-in benches and table Wes built for our kitchen. He's incredibly professional, and his work exceeded our expectations. His pieces make our kitchen!

**★★★★★ — happyuserishappy, Oct. 2014**

> I don't even remember how I found Wes but I'm so glad I did. He is quick to answer questions, prompt with estimates and the completed work was simply beautiful. There is a difference between a woodworker and an artist. Wes is an artist. Wood is his canvas. Grain is his paintbrush.

**★★★★★ — New Creations Custom Kitchen and Bath, July 2014**

> Our company has worked with Wes on a several unique projects this year, and we are very happy with the quality of his workmanship, and his high level of service. Wes seems to enjoy what he does, and is passionate about working on creative projects that incorporate unique materials, such as Turquoise, into his wood designs, and is comfortable working with a wide range of exotic wood species to yield beautiful results. Excellent Craftsmanship!!

**★★★★★ — mpadon, March 2014**

> I have worked with Wes Reynolds twice now and both times it has been above and beyond my expectations for service and quality. Wes does extremely great work. You can tell he takes pride in his craft. He built a custom butcherblock for our kitchen that was the centerpiece of the kitchen. Recently he stained the same piece a darker color for us and it looks fantastic. I would recommend Wes to anyone. Also, he is great to work with. He showed when he said he would, communicated about the project and kept us updated, and completed his work on time and on budget. What more can you ask for? I will continue to use and recommend WR Woodworking.

**★★★★★ — stephsearle, Sept. 2013**

> WR woodworking completed both a walnut top bar counter and a beautiful, custom mesquite table for my project. In both cases, their custom service was phenomenal. They were timely in completion and meticulous in detail. The craftsmanship was of the highest quality. I couldn't be more pleased with the end product. I will use them again!

**Comment from WR Woodworking:**

> Thank you so much for your very kind words. Look forward to future projects.

> Wes provided us a counter for a craftsman project we did a few years ago. After 6 years it still looks fantastic. His customer service was more than I would ask ... When my clients were not 100% satisfied with the top, Wes and his team replaced the piece with no questions asked just trying to make sure my clients were ecstatic.
>
> I can't wait till we work on the next one!

**★★★★★ — orovio, March 2013**

> A true artisan. After years of searching for the perfect patio table, we risked having it custom built. Wes at WR is amazingly talented. Best decision ever. Gifted in knowing the woods, an eye for lines and different styles. We have now had 5 pieces built by WR including a round dining table w a flush lazy susan. Highly recommend this company. Currently finishing up a walnut credenza w sliding doors.

**★★★★★ — Deonna Loper, March 2013**

> WR Woodworking is the best to call for just about any home project, event gifts or changing in home furniture! We bought the cutting boards first and now we have two in our kitchen and countless ones in the kitchens of our friends and family. We love this company so much, we're using this company for our new back deck, a desk and bed. I wouldn't hire anyone else!

**★★★★★ — Coupon Bbw-queen, Feb. 2013**

> I purchased an inlaid specialty item from this company. They are extremely curtious, timely and well priced. Most of all the custom piece is the centerpont of my kitchen.
>

**★★★★★ — blizinski, Feb. 2013**

> Wes created the most beautiful piece of functional art work that is the centerpiece of our kitchen and a conversation starter whenever we have company over. We remodeled our house along a Texas Hill Country theme, and I commissioned Wes to see what he could come up with for our center island to compliment the stone facing the kitchen hearth and maple cabinets in the kitchen. Wes did not disappoint, he created an 8'x5' mesquite counter top with a Texas star maple inlay in the middle. The rich earth tones of the mesquite with its variations in color make this a perfect compliment that we were looking for. The piece has with stood the temperament of children, kitchen prep mishaps, and occasional spills and continues to exude charm and elegance as if it were the first day installed.
>
> Wes knew exactly the piece needed, expertly crafted the design and installed it with professionalism. I highly recommend Wes for your next project.

**★★★★★ — tomquilter, Feb. 2013**

> Wes, Founder and Owner of WR Woodworking, has supplied cutting boards and wood gift items to our upscale American fine craft gallery since 1999. His work was always perfect, a winner with customers, and sought after as the perfect "wedding gift" for years. His care, craftsmanship and quality is evident in every piece he made from a 6"x6" mesquite=turquoise block inlay cheese board to a Texas Star 14"X12" cutting board or chopping block made from Texas pecan. Wes lovingly made each piece and often took time from his busy home re-decorating projects to make sure our retail gallery was always stocked well. Many customers asked for his cutting boards walking in the door as they always purchased them as gifts for special occasions. Many of these were so beautiful that they became just kitchen decoration, rather scratch the perfect inlay surface with a knife blade...too bad as these heirloom pieces actually look better with the character of use over a lifetime.
> Anyone can count on Wes to be complete with a project, examine every detail for perfection and work with diligence to satisfy every customer.
> And, what a gentleman, there is not a nicer man to work with and trust with access to your home and special needs for your project.
> Wes gets my highest recommendation as a top-of-the-line wood craftsman in the area, a person who should be \#1 on your list for a complex and detailed project.

## Community Q&A

**Q: can you share what stain the counter top is?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Trying to replicate

A: Absolutely!

**Q: BEAUTIFUL! Was the inlay custom as well?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am wondering if the inlay was custom, if not, is it sourced locally?

A: Thanks for your question. We made the entire bar top from 2” thick walnut lumber. The inlay is a 1/4” x 1/4” brass bar inlay. The design was requested by the interior designer for the project.
We have added this type of inlay on other projects, it really adds a touch of class.

**Q: Finish on the Bar Top** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello,

Can you tell me the finish on this bar top?

A: On that bar top we used a WaterLox finish. It does slightly "warm" the color of the wood. We currently use and have been using a spray on finish called Conversion Varnish that is also water & stain resistant and only requires a soap and water clean up. We find it to be just a durable, does not "yellow" and the dry time is a lot less between coats.

**Q: May I ask the brand and code of the blue paint? It is gorgeous** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Not for sure what the color blue it is. We just built the maple countertop for this customer.

**Q: finish?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What did you use to finish the walnut top? Looks great.

A: Great question, We used a product called Waterlox. It seals, protects and "warms" the wood.

**Q: Can you tell me what an 8'x36" in this run? No cutouts. Love walnut!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Kitchen Island top in this black walnut would be perfect in my new build.

A: Tina,

we would love to build one for you. 8'x36" (96" x 36") in Edge Grain from 1 1/2" - 3" would range from $2, 332.00 - $ 3,432.00. To build in Face Grain with a fold over to give the appearance of a 3" thick top it would be $ 1,992.00 for the top. Finish and delivery, applicable sales tax. That would be in Black Walnut.
Let me know, we would love to build you one!
