This small artisan tile studio offers complete custom service, from initial design to finished installation.  Each piece of architectural art is entirely unique, created only once, for one particular space. 

The process begins with a meeting in your home, where you describe your vision and your preferences. Betsy will develop a drawing and custom palette for your project, based on your aesthetic. You will have the chance to fine-tune the design together with her, until you are certain that it's perfectly right.

Working in her island studio, Betsy will hand cut, glaze, and fire all the tiles for your piece. They are made from white stoneware and fired to Cone 6 (about 2200 degrees F), making them completely impervious to moisture. She then installs the finished art piece in your home, using premium mortar and LEED certified grout.

Betsy works with homeowners, architects, contractors and designers. It takes time to sculpt an individual work of art, so she takes on only a few projects each year.

  - Description: Another woodstove hearth, this one in an Orcas Island home. In this case, the clients wanted to tie in the hearth palette with the earthy forest tones of their home. However, they also spend a lot of time on and around the Salish Sea, and it was important to them that the finished piece suggest the movement of kelp in the swirling currents.   - Description: This client asked for a brilliant design that would bring light into a shadowy corner and suggest the movement of water. We created a palette together that included the colors of the Pacific Northwest coast: the shining silvery greys, dark greens and misty changing blues. The existing slate floor was left in place.
